CYOTF (Human)

Astraea, inexperienced champion of justice.

added by LeFey 2 years ago O

Patience, Rachel told herself and tried to see things from her mother's point of view. Veronica did this to protect her daughter: it'd be pretty counter-intuitive to let her throw herself into danger within minutes of transforming. And she had a point, accidentally electrocuting a person as she tried to rescue them a burning building wasn't how she wanted to start her career as... Lil'thena! No! Bad Rachel! While Rachel was sure her mother would try to put things off as far as she could, she would train her eventually. All she had to do was push, remind her that she had powers now, so she had better learn to control them. Afterward, she was confident she could deflect any other time-stalling excuses.

She was still feeling frustrated, however. The teen needed to take her mind off things before ignoring her better judgment and flew after Veronica. Rachel reached into her torn jeans' pockets before groaning internally. Seeing her clothes stretch had been fucking awesome, but her phone had also cracked and bent slightly. It still functioned, barely, with the screen flickering and colors all spread out in a rainbow. All Rachel managed was a quick message asking her kinda-maybe-girlfriend to come over before her fingertips crackled with a sudden surge of electricity that melted the battery.

Totally busted. Although Rachel was glad it hadn't happened with her computer . Would her teacher accept superpower-related accidents as valid excuses as to why she couldn't turn in her assignments? As much as it hurt to admit, mom had probably made the right choice leaving her behind. She was wise, like her alter-ego's namesake, even if it sucked to admit it. While she waited, Rachel could at least figure out her superhero name. Mini-Athena was out. As was Lil'thena. The teen wracked her brain as she floated out of the basement. "Ouch!" Rachel exclaimed after hitting her forehead against the door-frame. It hadn't hurt, but the expectation of pain had been so ingrained that she felt a dull throb anyway. Nothing broke this time, at least.

How about Astraea? Greek goddess of justice, purity, and innocence. The thirteenth thing Rachel had done after her mom revealed herself was to read up on the rest of the Greek pantheon. Directly translated, it meant 'star maiden. The teen could be down with that. Astraea, defender of San Diego's pure and innocents and delivering justice to supervillains and criminals alike! They were both virgins too, but she was working on that. Ugh. Speaking of, she didn't have any clothes she could wear for when Naomi arrived. That meant either a torn and stretched t-shirt and towel combo, or going naked. Naked would be a pretty bold statement. Rachel's cheek burned.

No way would she wear one of her mother's old uniforms or clothes. Although they were likely the only thing that fit.
