She was so very, very tempted to grab one of those vials and hide it away... but this skimpy, skintight outfit didn't exactly leave her with any good options for secreting away anything as large as those vials. Plus, she couldn't just stick them somewhere for a while - these things were in a cryogenic safe, which meant they probably had to be stored cold or else they'd go inert. No, she'd pushed her luck quite a bit already - for the moment, Rachel would content herself with quickly locking up the safe, hoping to broach the subject with mom later.
Hurrying to slip into her outfit, she took maybe a second or so to check over what she could see before floating out. Black and red, in contrast to the white and blue of her mother's costume - and showing off a hell of a lot of skin, between the bare thighs, knee-high heeled boots, and a leotard that didn't do a whole lot to cover up her chest beyond pushing up the already-impressive rack, along with leaving her arms and midriff totally bare. Honestly, it was closer to a swimsuit and sexy boots derived from Athena's costume than an actual outfit - which meant it was perfect! Anybody who saw her would instantly understand that, while she came from Athena's lineage, she was a very different sort of heroine.
Her head was held high as she flew up the stairs and the living room, mercifully finding that her mother wasn't here. Instead, there was a very rapid series of knuckle raps on her door, followed by the sounds of someone zooming around the house in a circle multiple times in a second. That was Naomi alright - Delta-V, as the spaceflight-loving teen hero called herself. Like Athena, Naomi's mother was a hero with a publicly-known identity, a former astronaut who'd become the hyper-speedster Superluminal after a cosmic radiation accident. Naomi was still a long way off from reaching her mom's physics-defying velocities, but she was still the fastest girl in San Diego.
Rachel took a long, deep breath before floating over to answer the door, needing to duck her head under the frame very carefully in order to get out onto the porch. Currently in the middle of a loop around the house, Naomi came to a grinding halt the instant she caught a glimpse of her longtime friend, leaving a skid mark on the walkway in the process. Rachel couldn't help but feel butterflies as the a slack-jawed look of awe spread over the other girl's slavic features, her trademark aviators being raied up so that she could rub her eyes in disbelief. The wind whipped wildly as she sped up to Rachel in the blink of an eye, darting around to different angles for a few seconds before coming to a stop in front of her friend, wonder glinting in her eye.
"Holyyyyyyyyyyyyyy shit." She laughed excitedly. "Is this, like, a temporary thing? Did you get super-steroids instead of a mail bomb or something?! And your mom... you mom let you wear that?!" Her cheeks flushed red as she asked that last question
Rachel was quick to offer answers. "Oh, trust me, this isn't one of those empowered-for-like-two-days things. Mom's little late bloomer finally blossomed." She wasn't going to tell Naomi about the serum, not right now at least - she wasn't sure what kind of cover story her mom wanted to cook up, but Rachel knew that Veronica would want to keep the truth under wraps. She'd always been serious about protecting any of grandma's various legacies. "She's off helping with a fire, and while she was out, I wamted to come up with... my own style." She smirked and twirled in the air. "So what do you think?"
"What do I think?" Naomi grinned, zipping over to a railing to take a seat, briefly biting down on one of the temple tips of her sunglasses as she looked Rachel up and down. "Girl, I think your sexy ass is gonna knock the bad guys out way before you ever punch them!" The ego-boosting compliment gave Rachel a hearty laugh - yessss! Naomi liked it! She was still so incredibly anxious, but she knew that if she was going to ask the speedster out, now was the best time, right when she was still awestruck with Rachel's new goddess-level body. All she needed to do was dredge up the courage... which was still easier said than done, unfortunately, even for a brand new superhero...
