Henry and Alicia had just got married. Henry 44, 6’2 and just a little pudgy was the CEO of Homrood Enterprises one of the largest players in the new technologies business sector.
Alicia had been Henry’s executive assistant. She was 22, 5’8 and to put it bluntly a blonde bombshell. However due to an archaic company policy from the days when Homrood had been rung by Henry’s ex-father-in-law she had to quit her position at Homrood when her relationship with Henry had become public knowledge. Luckily Henry had cash reserves and had bought an interior design business which Alicia would manage when they returned from their honeymoon
The wedding was a grand affair. Henry had paid for what was considered the best venue in town and there were 150 guests.
Henry’s two teenage children Matilda (16) and Terence (12) from his first marriage were there. Henry was very happy to see them there as there had been some doubt about their attendance. His ex, Maureen had poisoned their minds against him. She was a bitter woman who had accused Henry of ‘stealing’ control of Homrood. Henry did not understand the extent of her bitterness. She got the family home in the divorce settlement. All Henry got was a 50% share in the family trust. Old Maurice his now deceased ex father-in-law, had bequeathed his 90% of Homrood to that family trust. It was just bad luck for Maureen that Henry had built up a 6% shareholding in Homrood prior to Maurice’s departure from this world. Maureen still owned 45% of the shares in the company and should be happy with the dividends which Henry’s hard work provided.
To get back to our story. The wedding was a gala affair. Alicia looked stunning in her designer gown. Matilda and Terence were there, as were Henry’s important business associates and leading politicians. And best of all Maureen did not turn up and cause a scene.
After the ceremony and reception, the newly married pair changed then departed via helicopter to the airport and thence to Hawaii where they were honeymooning for the next 2 weeks.
Matilda had been able to access the bridal parties’ rooms and had been able to sequester the gift her mother had provided into Alicia’s handbag.
