Each of the Anderson family looked at their almost empty cups and the label written on the side of the Mythical Health cup by the log were the words.
“Mermaid’s Diet” or “Merman’s Diet”
“Son of a bitch.” Cursed Nathan as he looked at his cup, if it was true then in a few minutes he would become a merman. Normally his mother would come down on him for saying the word Bitch but she was too focused on her own cup with the words Mermaid Diet on it.
“Crap.” Said their mother and since she never cursed, hearing that told them how big of a trouble they where in.
“Maybe it will not happen to us? It says it is happening in the cities and heading outwards.” Offered Sarah but she didn’t sound hopeful herself, because reports where that while it seamed to have started in major cities around the nation and the world it was radiating outwards and didn’t seam to be stopping.
“Ok…if we are going to get fins we can’t be in a car when it happens.” Said their father Mike as he opened the car door. “Hurry up and get into a swimsuit. Bikini’s for you ladies.”
“What? Why?” inquired his wife Mary
“We are going to get fins; we need to be in water and we are in luck.” Said Sarah as she understood what her father was getting to. They where in luck, their house sat on a canal which emptied out into the ocean. They had a boat house where their dad kept a ski boat, on the other side was a dock with a sandy beach for children to play in the water.
That reached her mom and younger brother, however the five-year-old Liz didn’t fully understand what was happening only that her family was panicking.
They rushed into the house, and toward their rooms, they where quickly getting into swimsuits. Mary putting on a modest simple black and white bikini. She may be in her late 40’s but she had spent a life swimming and jogging which had kept the weight down, but she still rushed to get her five-year-old daughter into a kiddy swimsuit. Her husband had more of a gut then he had when he had when he was younger, and he could use to drop 10 pounds or so but he was still in good shape. He put on a green pair of swim trucks and a white T-shirt and headed toward the beach.
Their oldest daughter took a little longer, but she and her brother came running out of the house and toward the beach. Sarah in a red bikini which showed more skin than her mother would normally approve of but right now she didn’t care. Her brother Nathan had slipped on a blue pair of swim trunks but left his shirt up at the house. They all ran into the water, stopping just long enough for them to leave their cell phones on the dock. The left their cell phones out so that they could hopefully use them.
“Mommy why are swimming?” inquired Liz as the five-year-old looked on confused as she was being held in the water by her mother.
“We are just being careful dear and let’s hope nothing happens.” Stated Mary as her heart was pounding in her chest.
For a while nothing happened and then it arrived, the wave of energy came washing over them and kept going. Everyone was quiet for a moment, then Liz spoke up again.
“I feel funny.” Stated Liz as the five year old looked at the frightful faces on her family as they all began to transform.
