In high school Marcus had a theory, if people focused more on having sex and getting to know each other then perhaps the world wouldn't be such a violent place. Marcus never saw sex as gross or wrong and often had causal sex with his friends, they're still very close to this day. So soon after high school he began experimenting with how to achieve this sexual paradise. he eventually went in to the field of genetic engineering graduating from collage before getting to work on his dream. In order to achieve this world, human physiology would have to be rewritten, people would need to become more willing to have sex, positive emotional benefits need to be increased, and diseases and other negative effects need to be eliminated. Most importantly a way to choose weather or not you wanted to get pregnant or not, otherwise overpopulation would quickly become a problem.
At first Marcus played with the idea of retro viruses to introduce the desired changes, but found viruses to unpredictable to rely on. Eventually he came to the idea to engineer a type of protean, microscopic chemical processes that work a lot like machines. If put together correctly they can be made to do many complex tasks, such as rewrite a person's genetic code. Of course the hard part was to get the protean to work the way he needs it to, which was a very compilated and time consuming process, and also required a lot of money. Funding was of course a big problem, as it turns out not a lot of people are willing to fund what they call a "perverted pipedream". Needles to say Marcus is band from quite a few scientific communities (the prudes). I was ultimately the Powells who came to save Marcus's project. For whatever reason Kendra Powell became aware of his intentions and was completely on board, asking her husband to give him some funding. They even helped Marcus get funding from other sources promoting his research as a potential cure for cancer. Which wasn't a lie, as the protean would remain in the body and would repair any damage to the genetic code theoretically it could even prevent ageing. Of course the project's true intentions had to be kept a secret.
Mrs. Powell proved to be very helpful when coming up with creative solutions, the "purple goo" was her idea. Marcus was trying to find a way to introduce the protein into the human body and Kendra felt that instead of an injection something that people could eat would be more enticing. The goo was actually a nectar like substance that tasted sweat and had a strong aphrodisiac, it was designed to protect the protein from being broken up by the body and make it easier for it to enter the cells. As a side benefit it provided a very good medium to introduce enzymes and other nutrients to promote the desired changes. It was also her idea to expand the project's effects to the environment itself, affecting plants and animals not just humans. Marcus liked this idea particularly regarding plants as they could be made to produce the purple nectar effectively introducing it into the environment.
For awhile now Marcus had wondered why Kendra was so interested in this project. It was only recently that he learned that she had seen his theory play out firsthand, wen raising the twins she wanted to make it so that if they ever got angry with each other they should find an alternate outlet for their frustrations rather than get violent. She didn't know why she thought it was a good idea but wen ever they got mad at each other she would ask them to get naked and touch each other's privets. It worked, wen ever they got into an argument instead fighting or screaming they would just get naked and start masturbating each other's penises. Over time they would almost never fight and became very close choosing to have sex with one another all the time, wanting to bond with her boys she started to join them. This is the world the Powell's want to create, a world were no one fights and instead chooses to bond through sex. The only thing that Marcus was never sure about was what her husband thought about all this. "He's probably ok with it, I mean he is funding me right"?
