Diane paced up and down the hallway. Her sister's door was closed, and Diane was in no hurry to go in there. Even though Tina was only eleven, the two sister's had a very bitter and competitive relationship--she couldn't let her see her like this! It would be absolutely humiliating.
But Diane was having trouble linking even her most simplistic thoughts together. She found she couldn't focus on anything for longer than thirty seconds without her mind wandering. Several times she found herself just standing there giggling and wondering what she had been thinking about a moment ago.
It was horrible! She was a total airhead. And even worse, she had no idea how it had happened. The best theory she could come up with was the brain flu thing. She figured the internet thingy probably told all about it and how to fix it, but computers were so far over her head now it gave her a headache just to try and think about them.
Probably not a good thing since she was enrolled in two college credit programming classes at school. She wondered dimly if you had to be able to type and everything to be in those classes. And then she stood there for a good five minutes and wondered about things like what she should wear tomorrow, and if she should go to the beach this Saturday, and if she did go to the beach this Saturday what should she wear?, and if she found something to wear should she play volleyball?, and what were the rules to volleyball again anyway? Then she got lost in her own head again and giggled vacantly.
What was she doing again? She saw she was standing outside her sister's door. Oh yeah, she needed help with the brain flu thingy. As long as she acted all smart and stuff, her sister probably wouldn't even notice anything was wrong anyway.
Diane opened the door and walked in without knocking. Her sister was sitting on her bed reading.
"Hey Tina, I'm still like sooooo totally smarter than you are and stuff. My brain is like super big, like way bigger than yours or something. But, like, I need to look up the brain flu that I have on the interstate computer thingy, and like oh my Gawd, it's like so totally hard!!!! Can you even believe it?!?!?!"
Tina looked up from her book, adjusted her glasses and blinked in surprise.
"Why are you naked?" she asked.
Diane looked down at herself, and then covered her bare breasts with her arms. "Oh...my...Gawd! I like, totally spaced getting dressed after my shower! How silly!" She giggled, and stared blankly forward.
Tina's brow furrowed. "Why's your hair blonde?"
"Huh?" Diane lifted her eyes to the blonde locks dangling down her forehead. "Oh, I like probably totally dyed it or something."
"I thought you hated blonde hair."
"Eeeew! I do! Only bimbos have blonde hair, totally!"
A smile formed across her sister's face. "I just realized something."
"Oooooh! Is it, like, about volleyball?"
"Somebody turned you into an airheaded bimbo, didn't they?"
