Despite the fact that Diane got on her bus on time, she was located relatively near to school, so there were only a few free bus seats nonetheless. Diane chose one closer to her house and continued to think, or at least trying to. It was hard. Her thoughts jumped around her head like a bunch of rabbits.
And then somebody sat next to her. It was Hecuba Thorne, one of the school's Goths. She was a couple of months older than Diane and her friends and thus they didn't come into contact too often.
"Do you mind?" Diane glared but her heart wasn't in it.
"Hey, I just want to sit!" Hecuba replied, but also automatically rather than on purpose. "What's with the long face, anyways?"
A "None-of-your-business" died on Diane's lips as she remembered her current situation. "Say, Hecuba," she said slowly. "As a Goth, you know stuff about witches, no?"
"That depends on why you're asking," Hecuba replied, surprise and caution clearly mixed in the reply.
"Oh, just wondering," Diane said, trying to sound casual, "if there weren't any male witches in nature."
"Yeah. They're called warlocks or wizards."
"Oh. Are they evil or not?"
"Why the sudden curiosity?"
"Err... saw movie yesterday at the mall?"
"There wasn't any such movie at the mall," Hecuba said with certainity.
"No? Then forget it," Diane said with certainity as well, secure in her knowledge that that'll what happen...
Hecuba thoughtfully looked at now non-talkative Diane, as she rubbed her ankh. Had it been just her, or did it flash lukewarm just back then? The Goth's eyes narrowed in deep thought. She was going to have to talk with somebody about this...
