Doctor Martinez looked over the two brothers, well, it would be hard for them to be biological brothers now, and Chong-Hui. With the changes having happened, Dou-Wan had ended up a very well muscled young Chinese man, whereas Hussein, still dressed in a western manner, was now a toned, athletic Arab young man. Chong-Hui being slightly behind Dou-Wan in terms of build, but nonetheless very capable of backing him up.
He knew when he was beaten.
Dr. Martinez answered, "This...wasn't supposed to be something you'd be aware of. It was something we were testing out. Trying to see if we could engineer a way to allow people to be immersed in the culture and emerge with a new understanding."
"So you just saw fit to change all of our races without telling us, and treat our new ethnicities like they're just cultural conveniences for your own notion of understanding!?" Dou-Wan demanded, barely stopping himself from smashing the table with one hand.
"Now, please...I understand why you are so angry with this, and it may seem callous of me, but it was never intended to be so...invasive." Dr. Martinez stated, looking them over, "We had certain intentions, but it's very clear to me now that those intentions were not as good as we thought they were. Especially when we barely comprehended what we used to do this."
"So let me get this straight," Chong-Hui stated, "You changed our bodies and minds, but you used something you barely understood to do so, and then you went ahead and tried to conceal everything, and gaslight us out of thinking anything was wrong. Do I have EVERYTHING here right?"
Martinez paused, and shook his head, "Regretfully, you have everything correct."
"We want back to how we were before," Hussein said in a low tone.
"And I'm afraid that can't be done yet," Martinez responded, "We used something we had no understanding of, and what it has done to you needs to be completed before it reverts. Such is the condition - at the end of the semester, it is going to revert you back to normal. Not before, and not after."
"Aren't you just a beacon of competence?" Chong-Hui shook his head and groaned. Leave it to Martinez and co. to meddle with something they didn't even understand, and potentially get people wrapped up in some freaky sort of magic that changed their bodies and minds, and not even know much about it. He looked at Martinez, "Are we at least done changing?"
"I...cannot say," Martinez responded, "Hopefully. But at least, since you have become aware of it, it is most likely that the mental effects will largely abate. You'll have your memories of who you used to be."
Dou-Wan just felt like screaming, and calmed himself down by reminding himself of the lessons he learned. Supposedly. He didn't really know how much he remembered was him, and how much was this change affecting him. "Just...don't meddle with this stuff again. You fuck up once, you should know well enough not to fuck up again." The new Chinese jock figured he needed a good workout after all this. Just...deal with his frustration.
Martinez nodded, "We have indeed learned our lesson. There will be no more use of the Tome of Origins."
"Good, now, are we---" Chong-Hui started...
Martinez shook his head, and looked out the window, "I've given you boys enough trouble for one day. Enough stress. You're excused for the day, I'll write down something. Feel free to do as you will, and be careful going forward. Again, I...do not know if the changes are done yet."
Dou-Wan simply headed out, "I'm gonna go hit the gym. See you guys later."
Hussein followed, deciding to do so as well. Chong-Hui watched them go, and decided to follow after as well, "Hey guys, wait, I think I'd like to go to the gym too!" With that, the trio left the school grounds for the gym Dou-Wan preferred - which used to be the gym he preferred as Drake.
As they walked on the way, Dou-Wan found himself checking his reflection in mirrors. He wasn't a particularly vain guy, but he was more trying to see if he lost any progress from the transformation. Thankfully it seemed there was mercifully little loss in muscle. His proportions had changed a little was all. He breathed and put an arm around Chong-Hui and Hussein's shoulders as they walked, "Let's get this outta our systems post-haste. Bet you guys I can outlift you on bench press."
"You're on, Dou-Wan!" Hussein chuckled and headed along with him.

Meanwhile, Dr. Martinez, in his office, looked at the Tome of Origins. He still did not understand the mystic book that transformed people in that class, but he figured it was time to learn about it a little more. So keen was he on making his old mistake right that he went ahead and made a new one. As he opened the book and mentally looked over the spells, he was shocked that it seemed even mentally reciting them seemed to have some sort of effect. The strange scrawling on the page started to glow.
Martinez got ready to throw himself back away from the book!
But it was entirely too late for him. A bolt of light struck him in the middle of his body, the older teacher left moaning as his consciousness wavered - wondering what sort of effect his mistake was going to have...
