Across town, Matt was wondering what had ever become of Bryan since he made his wish.
Walking up to the mirror in his bedroom, he held up the wand and said, "I wish this was a
magic mirror... it will show me whatever I ask it to." He felt the surge of energy telling him
that the spell had taken effect, so he said, "Mirror, show me Bryan DeSoto."
At once, the mirror glass changed into something like a television screen, and Matt saw
his little neighbor trapped under a trashcan with three pairs of sneakers standing around
him.
"Wow," said Matt, "this really works! Mirror, widen the view a bit."
The view widened, and Matt saw the three giants bending down toward Bryan and arguing
about something. The mirror didn't convey sound, but Matt got the general idea from their
body language. He took a few minutes just to watch them, getting a kick out of spying.
Later, he'd have to wish for sound, but right now he had another agenda.
"I wish that everyone in that room was here on my dresser, the same size as Bryan . . . and
naked!"
------
Back in David's room, Dan was saying, "Fine . . . if you don't give him to us to play with, I'll
just have to tell Dad."
David lifted the trashcan and scooped up his little friend. "OK, fine, tell him," he said.
"No!" squeaked Bryan, who felt there were entirely too many giants around as it was.
Seeing Bryan's objection, David just shrugged. "It's not as if we can do anything to grow
you back ourselves. Maybe my dad CAN help."
Dan narrowed his eyes. "You're bluffing. I can't believe you won't just let me borrow him,
but fine . . . DAD!" He yelled this last so loud that Bryan had to cover his ears.
There were loud footsteps from the hallway. "What's going on in there?" came the father's
voice.
"Nothing!" said David, regretting his bluff.
"Dad, come in here!" yelled Dan at the same moment.
The doorknob turned, just as, across town, Matt started making his wish.
