Monica put herself back together an immediately reached for her phone. She called he best friend Angie. She had to share this discovery.
Unfortunately her call went straight to Angie's message-bank
"Angie, get over here as quickly as you can. You should see what I have found in the Attic"
Monica took the sword downstairs and examined in better light. It was remarkably shiny and polished looking. She examined the writing again. If it was writing it wasn't in any letters she recognised.
It was a sword with a blase only on one side, but that edge looked razor sharp. She picked up a dish cloth and pushed it against the bade. The cloth cut cleanly in half. But then she put the two pieces of the cloth together but they did not knit. They remained two halves.
She looked around for something else to try the blade on. From the fridge she found a melon. It sliced in half very easily. But again the two halves did not fuse when she pushed them together.
Why did it work on her but not on these other objects? Monica re-examined the note. "Here is your new master" What did that mean?
She had healed when cut by the sword, so why not these other objects? Had she been hallucinating in the attic? Dare she try it again?
She pressed the pinky finger of her left hand gently against the blade. the blade went in without any pain. It was halfway through her finger. She looked carefully there was no blood. She was not hallucinating. She moved her had down and the finger sliced of totally. She felt no pain.
She picked the finger up with her right hand. The skin where the cut had gone was closed over. The same had happened to the stump still attached to her hand. Once more she put the two pieces together. They fused together instantly. Her finger looked as good as new.
She decided to try something different. She sliced off the pinky once more, then the pointer finger on the same hand. She then replaced the fingers on the wrong stumps. Again she healed instantly. Now she had a long pinky finger and a short pointer. When she mentally bent her pointer finger it was the smaller finger in the pointer position that bent.
Her phone rang. It was Angie. "You rang?"
"Yeah. Where are you? Come over here as quickly as you can. I found the most amazing thing in the attic. You will need to see it to believe it"
"I'm at the shops but have bought what I want. I'll drop in as I go past. See you in 5"
Monica mused about the best way to demonstrate to Angie what the sword could do. She decided to swap her legs.
First she put her fingers back in the correct spot. Then she sat down on her couch and cut off her right leg just below the hem of her short skirt and above her knee. As she expected both sides of the cut skinned over. She wiggled her ankle and saw the detached ankle wiggle. However she could not make the detached leg walk. She picked it up and placed it beside her on the couch.
She then chopped off her left leg in the same spot. then re-positioned it against the stump of her right leg. The two parts formed together. She mentally moved the ankle of her right leg. The ankle of the leg attached to her right thigh moved. She then mentally tried to move her left leg. The detached leg sitting beside her was lifeless.
She pinched the skin on the detached leg and felt.... Nothing!
She pinched the skin on her current right calf. .. It hurt!
She then attached her former right leg to her left stump. The parts fused together. She got up and walked around .Everything appeared normal except it looked as though her shoes were on the wrong foot. She took off the shoes and examined her feet. They were reversed. Her big toes were on the outside of each foot.
Just then her doorbell rang. Angie had arrived.
