Michael had just turned 18 and decided that he wanted to spend the day wit his two mates, Chris and Andrew. They'd known each other for quite a long time and they couldn't stand not seeing each other every week. Michael was one of those people who kept to himself all day yet was quite open to his friends. He rarely went into town unless he was forced by his mom. Even then he did have to be forced.
Still, he was finally made to go down one day to collect some shopping. He lived above the town on a hill while his friends lived a couple of miles up the town... He decided that he would wander around town to see if anything caught his eye. However, he did wander into a shop he'd never spotted before. A bit curious - he looked around.
"Hello, Sir. May I be of any assisstance?" The old man asked. He had a small grin on his face.
"Well, it's my birthday today and I was just---"
"Ah, then may I suggest this as a birthday present?" He held the board game out and Mike's eyes were drawn to it.
"It looks awesome - but, um...how much is it?"
"Well..." he said. "As it's your birthday - I'll give it to you for free...as a present." His grin spread to a smile as he watched the boy take it from him. Mike gave him a confused stare and left the store after saying "Thanks."
He was about to walk home when he suddenly remembered. "Ah! the shopping!!"
