Ultimately, he couldn't go through with it. He didn't want to do anything that might upset them. He simply picked himself up, forced a smile, and said, "Good one dad.". His father beamed, though seemed a bit concerned about his son's behavior. Kade sat down as his 'mother' put a stack of pancakes in front of him, "You know Warren sometimes I don't think you realise how bad you smell.", His dad chuckled, "Why thank you my dear." He said, planting a kiss on his spouse's face, "But I think I know how bad it is. I am the top stinker in skunkology at the academy you know?".
"Of which you never forget to remind us." His older 'sister' added in a teasing tone of voice, taking another photo of himself. "Ellis, you know you and Kade are well on your way to stink success. I'm particularly proud of your score on the last Odormeter scale. A whopping 899,000 stinkowatts!" He then turned towards Kade, who had just started to eat, before noticing there wasn't any utensils, and seeing both his father and siblings just grabbing food with their hands and munching it. He was too self-conscious to ask for silverware, and so, reluctantly, grabbed a syrup-drenched waffle and tried eating it as best he could. "And son, your score of 878,000 certainly wasn't bad either!" He chuckled jovially, "Well what do you expect, they have your genes." His mother replied, "Darling, OUR genes. I remember back in college you had one of the top 5 stink scores in our class." His mother giggled as he got some food for himself, messily chowing down on it like the whole family besides Kade seemed to be doing, "I could never beat you though."
"Don't worry about that Louie. You've already got my heart." He reassured, kissing him again. Kade knew his father was a professor as a human, but apparently as a skunk he was a champion in fart contests, or whatever they were. His sister seemed better in him in that regard in this world, but she was probably a lot more academic in his old life too, so that didn't surprise him. Ellis just rolled his eyes at their parents display of affection, "Dad, how could you compare me to Kade? He still bathes for Pete's sake!" He protested. Kade was caught off-guard by that, but his dad laughed, "Don't worry honey. Why by the time you're my age you both could surpass my record." Ellis groaned, reclining in his seat, as Kade silently ate, not sure he wanted to become a 'top stinker' or whatever. He heard his younger siblings tapping on their plates, "Da-da, da-da, what about our scores?" Peter gasped out, sounding far more childish than he did as a human, while Penny just sucked on his thumb. His father simply ruffled his hair, "Don't worry about that you two. You'll become as stinky as your siblings at least, maybe even as bad as me and your mother one day." Both twins seemed satisfied with that answer, "Remember, just keep practicing!" They nodded excitedly, before they both closed their eyes and grunted, concentrating. Long, loud, wet farts erupted from their behinds as they grinned, while his father applauded, "Ah, now that's music to my ears boys! Keep it up!".
Kade watched in disgust, as Ellis just scoffed, "Big deal. Watch this little dudes!" He held his legs up in his seat, presenting his fat ass, which Kade saw his shorts wouldn't fit over. He grunted for a bit, before a booming fart roared from his rear, almost like a humid cloud of skunk spray, all over the food in front of him on the table. Kade backed up, while his mom and dad looked on in approval, and his younger siblings starred in awe. Ellis's fart went on for a good thirty seconds, before it sputtered out, him sighing blissfully as his younger brothers applauded him. Kade had no idea how to react to it, and after having farted on his pancakes for half-a-minute, he still grabbed the top one of the stack with his chubby paw and shoved it into his mouth, smiling to himself.
Warren chuckled, "Ah, always nice to smell my children's progress. The family that sprays together stays together!". He then looked towards Kade expectantly. Kade's blood ran cold as his father grinned, "Well son, wanna show us what you got?", the twins giggled and clapped, "Yeah! Show us!". Kade gulped down his pancake, not sure if he could. Well, he felt some gas in there, but... farting in front of his family? Even worse, having his father judge it? "Uh, heh-heh, well...." Ellis chuckled, "What are you, scared?". His mother seemed more concerned, "Kade, are you alright? You've been acting strange all morning." Kade nodded, not wanting to alert anyone's suspicion, "No--I'm fine, really, it's just..." His father interrupted, "Well, there's no harm in doing it then, is there?" Kade chuckled nervously, feeling everyone's eyes on him.
