Magic is a finickle thing - able to operate flawlessly for centuries since its casting, yet so easily bent and altered by stray thoughts or emotions.
In hindsight, it should have been suspicious how easily your were able to push back the donkey curse. Then again, you were distracted by much more pressing matters such as the issue of your humanity and the Island. You never even questioned how they managed to twisted your form into another species, before you shelved it away and forgot it all together. Never realising that the curse is very much still there, lurking under you skin, heeding your will and command to be gone.
One push is all it took to shove the curse away, another push is all it will take to call it back up

A month ago, you played truant on a whim for Pleasure Island, under the persuasion of a few delinquents on your way to school. A few days later, you came back to school a changed person, metaphorically and literally. You're just another face in the crowd before, now you're more well-known for your new found athletic talent in running and kicking sports. Paired up with your now humbled and hardworking nature, you found yourself a target of adoration and envy - not an unwelcoming change compared to your old life, but you could do without the constant reminder that the Island still out there.
You weren't the only one in your school who went on that fateful trip on Friday, some of your schoolmates called in sick on the same day and never showed up again - leaving behind only a official statement from the authorities that this was yet again another 'mystery' case, not even a scent trail for dogs to pick up. It became the topic of the month, gossips and conspiracy theories are still circulating around even now. Reminding you none too gently about the Island still operating out there, and you should have done something about it. You could only swallow it down and move on, nothing much you could actually do.
