Of course, this brief moment to yourself was quickly ended as the doctor returned. "So, what do you think?"
"I think I am more woman than you let on. It is almost as if I am inside another person's body." You say while looking down at yourself.
"Well, in a sense you are. Most of your exterior body is from a doner. We needed something to put you in after all. You practically were just a spine, heart, and head when all the damage was removed. But she had donated just about all of her other organs than her skin to another already; thus why we needed the squid. Your head is still your own, just after a bit of light cosmetic work to fix a few defects, like your crushed nose, missing teeth, and fractured jaw bone." Explains the doctor, with an unusually enthusiastic tone. He is oddly excited about retelling the story about fixing you for some reason.
"Now then, looking forwards, I would prepare yourself for a few likely things. The primary thing being your period. While it will not work like a normal woman's, you will develop a menstrual cycle. So be prepared for that, and maybe even select to always stay at home if you don't want people watching/hearing you vomit blood all day. But with part of it belonging to a squid, perhapse it will not be so bad. I can't say for sure since this is a world first. Heck, you might even lay eggs for all I know, ha ha."
You don't really laugh at this. You more so just imagine what it would be like to push eggs out of your human mouth. It was not as erotic of an idea as you had hoped for.
"Anyways, other things to expect. You will notice that your breasts should begin to develop more. You will be taking a supplement which is full of estrogen and other hormones in order to help ease your body to hopefully lessen any chances of having a rejection. What size they will end up being is up to luck and your genetics at this point. Lastly, you should use the time you still in this hospital bed to manufacture up a new identity you are comfortable being. We will provide you assistance with the legal end of this process, but we need you to create your new identity, or just update your old one if you feel like it. That choice is up to you."
"I see. Well, since I guess I am now technically female, I should plan on move forward living as a woman, correct?"
"It isn't for me to decide. However your physical body will look like this, and almost guaranteed to grow even more feminine due to the addition of your hormonal supplements. So I personally would likely do that if it were my decision, but I am not you. This choice is entirely up to you."
"Well, when in Rome, right? Fine, pencil me down as a woman. I will think of a new name in a few minutes."
"Certainly. Then I will step out for a few moments to let you think in peace." With that, the doctor leaves again so that you can think in peace about everything he just said. But all you had to do was pick a new name. It isn't too hard of a task, but it does take you a few minutes to finally settle on one. In fact, it already was your name in a sense. You decided to go with Meridian, the same name of the squid which now is various parts of your body.
2 minutes later the doctor returns, along with a pair of nurses and two more doctor-looking people. He introduces them to you after getting your new name. "Well Meridian, this is your new marine veterinarian, Dr. Abe Johann. And this is your new specialist, Dr. Lilith Newgrove. She will be taking over the reins on your case, as I am not fully suited to be your full time doctor. Dr. Newgrove however is. She is an expert when it comes to handling the overly obscur and/or never before seen types of cases. You fit her criteria to the letter." With that, the doctor left, leaving the four other people behind with you. The pair of nurses simply collected your vitals and then they too left.
"So, your this interesting new case I have heard about. The man who became a squid girl. Yeah I don't see it. What part of you is squid?" asks Dr. Abe.
"Mainly my internal organs, but also my full digestive system, and my respiratory system partially is too. I even have a beak." You say as you pull off the covers and move your gown out of the way.
"Remarkable, and you have full control?" He says as he move in closer to look at not only you beak, but your gills too. You just nod back in response.
"So, Meridian right? How do you feel? Well, more specifically, how much do you feel unusual, non-human, animalistic even? Can you tell you have a different species' body parts? Or does everything feel just natural to you?" Asked Dr. Lilith.
"Natural I guess, at least nothing besides my beak feels overly different. I mean, I do feel like I am in a completely new body, but everything also feels familiar to me somehow at the same time. It is hard to explain" you answer after thinking about it. To your surprise however, she seems completely satisfied with this answer. Almost as if she had already been suspecting it before she even asked.
"Well, with Abe it should be obvious, but let me explain to you about myself first." Said Dr. Lilith. "You wouldn't happen to have a significant other, would you?"
"No... why?"
"Wonderful, because I will be moving in with you for close monitoring and to be an instant medical response if the need for it ever arises."
