Alex awoke the next day with the sun shining in his eyes for the massive window in his bedroom. He turned over and realized Wilma wasn’t in the bed and had probably woken up already. He looked down on his hand and saw his wedding ring, but the silver ring from the magic shop was gone. He panicked a little, but then saw it sitting on the nightstand, taking a breath of relief. He got out of bed and proceeded to start washing up. That was when Wilma came into the room.
She had been doing the laundry, and picked up some of her and Alex’s clothes, tossing them in a basket she had under her arm. Then she glanced to the nightstand, seeing the shimmer of a ring she had never seen before. She placed the basket down and moved closer to examine it. It must have been an old heirloom of Alex’s that he never told her about. She picked it up and instantly felt an attraction toward it. She slipped it onto her left ring finger, knowing it probably wouldn’t fit, but to her surprise, was perfectly snug on her finger. She smiled and walked out of the room with the basket to finish doing the laundry, with Alex completely unaware that his wife had taken the ring.
Later that day, Alex was relaxing in the pool as Wilma was inside, looking at drafts of potential dress designs. Her phone rang, it was her best friend, Megan.
“Hey Megan!” She said, picking up the phone. “No, I’m just looking over some dress designs, what about you?” She said, standing up and walking into the foyer. Unbeknownst to her, this conversation was about to change her life with the power of the ring now in her possession…
