It had been a few days since the chance encounter with Caleb and Gloria couldn't help but still think about him. She had actually been so distracted by their meeting that before they left Gloria almost forgot to age the mother back to normal, Felicia had to actually do it for her, but by mistake she had accidentally aged the daughter up by mistake. She was going to change them back, but they left in such a hurry that they didn't get around to it.
Now Gloria and her friends were outside in Gloria's backyard having a barbecue. Jason was on the grill while Lisa was keeping Lynne from trying to help her daddy.
"You say this guy was giving off some creepy vibes?" Felicia asked Sasha.
"Yeah, I don't know what it was...but he just felt like he was making me feel massively uncomfortable just being around him." Sasha explained.
"Weird it just seems like we always attract the creepiest people to this town. Jackie told me earlier about some guy from the office who has a name to match his creepiness: Hannibal. Seriously? What parent names their kid that? So Jackie..." Felicia talked to Sasha before turning over to talk to Jackie who was busy making out with a teenage Ann.
Diane and Naomi rolled their eyes at the two of them. Lisa had invited Ann to hang out with family as much as her girlfriend, but she had been hanging out with her girlfriend a little more since she arrived.
"Hey, Lynne, why don't you go play with Aunt Ann?" Gloria suggested to her little sister.
"Aunt Annie!" Little Lynne said as she waddled over to Ann taking her attention away from her girlfriend.
"No fair." Jackie pouted to Gloria as her girlfriend picked up Lynne to play with her.
"Ignore that for a moment. Listen, we all agree that we've encountered some pretty weird people recently. We can't rule out that any of them might be connected." Gloria advised.
"What about this Caleb guy you met? Does he seem involved at all?" Naomi asked.
"No way, he seems way to nice." Gloria brushed off the idea.
"And he's cute." Felicia added making Gloria give her a little shove in the stomach.
"Okay besides him, let's look at a few signs. Some weird older guy asks to have his windows tinted because of 'sensitivity to sunlight'." Naomi began.
"Then we hear about some big hulking guy coming into the office and he's interested in those old suits that got destroyed." Diane added.
"Do you think that these guys are working together?" Gloria asked her friends.
"They might, we have met some weird people who turn out to be supernaturally powered in some way." Sasha commented as the girls nodded.
They only continued talking about the matter for a little while longer until they just decided to enjoy the rest of the barbecue. The rest of the day went well, Sasha was actually the last one to head home. She didn't mind the walk home, she just wished that she had her motorcycle fixed and ready. As Sasha was walking along, she came across a teenager who was wearing some dirty clothes and was rummaging through a trash can. The teen boy saw Sasha and looked scared, he almost took off running, but fell onto the curb hurting his knee.
"Oh my god, are you alright?" Sasha asked the boy looking concerned.
"No...no, I'm fine. No help needed here." The boy said as he tried to get up but instead sat back down on the sidewalk feeling the pain in his leg again.
"Here, my house isn't too far from here. I can take you there and patch you up. My dad probably won't like it, but I'm not having you bleed out all over the sidewalk and die." Sasha said lifting the young boy up.
"I've had worse injuries I wish I'd died from." The boy said holding back tears.
"Jesus, how long have you been out on the streets?" Sasha asked.
"Longer than you would've imagined." The boy said.
"Yeah, I bet your family misses you, huh?" Sasha said as they limped to her house about half a block away now.
"No, my family disowned me a long time ago. I'm a disgrace to them these days." The boy said.
"Geez, did you come out to them or something? I know someone like that." Sasha asked.
"No, I just....disagreed with their business work. They considered me a softie." The boy said.
"Huh, so you're a bleeding heart and a bleeding leg to boot." Sasha said as they neared her house making the two of them laugh.
"So you got a name, bleeding heart?" Sasha asked the boy.
"Y-Y-Yeah, no one's really asked me for a long time. I'm....Duke." The boy said with a smile.
"Nice to meet you Duke, I'm Sasha." Sasha said smiling at him.
