I don't know how things work anywhere else in the world, or even the country, (let alone your world) but around here it was customary to have parents and teachers meet every month to discuss our scholarly progress and, before anything else, the need to make this student or that one change class depending on their new level of magic.
A whole month already passed by since the last time we spoke, and yesterday such a meeting took place, but was attacked by a group of misguided and misinformed magical-girls. I'll be honest, while I rapidly understood the misinformed part thanks to some of the nonsense they were spouting, I believed them to be evil rather than merely misguided at the time.
They claimed that some of the illegal experimenting on magical-core was secretly financed by the government. (Hard to believe when we know how much money of said government goes into stopping said experiments.) Their leader even spouted some non-sens about mom replacing a powerful magical-girl known as ‘Yuki’, supposedly after killing her to take her core, and then giving them to some top-secret government facility.
Such accusations made me furious. Sure, at first glance I look far more like my father than my mother. But anyone knowing my maternal grand-parent would see I inherited just as much trait from them than from dad. Not only that, but because of my family's history, it's not the first time doubt about mom really being my mother were raised, often by the schools' boards. But each time a DNA test proved that, yes, she really is my biological mother and, yes, I'm really the son of my father.
But this so called ‘Icy Spear’ was too far gone to listen, stating loudly her intention to kill mom to ‘avenge her idol and role-model’ as she put it.
My magic reacted to my rage, simultaneously lashing in the outside world wile also compressing inside my own body. Then, for a split second I was engulfed in an unbelievably cold light. When it dissipated, Icy Spear and her accomplice got startled, my rage blinding me to the fact it was my own change that had caused it, along with the fact I had changed at all.
All I saw was a gaping hole in the defense of someone wanting to kill my mom, an opening I could use to attack, something I wouldn't have done if I had been clear-headed. After all, how would a simple boy, even one exceptionally charged in magic, could hope to win against a battle magical-girl who lost her marbles? But again, if I had been clear-headed I would have realized I had turned into a magical-girl too.
Alas, my rage was too great to let me realize I was participating into a fight, magical-girl with ice-powers against magical-girl with ice-powers. So great that I didn't see my opponent was only defending herself, never trying to attack. So great I didn't register I was somehow draining her of all her magic, and spewing even more raw magic than I was draining from Icy Spear.
Only when I had drained so much magic that Icy Spear's magical-core dissolved, forcibly reverting her to her civilian identity, dit I stop. Startled by the fact she was none other my own aunt, my father's sister. I heard her spewing about how she admired the previous Yuki, a magical-girl with powers similar to her own, who had inspired her in training to become a battle magical-girl rather than the idol she planed to until then. "Can you imagine how happy, if a bit jealous, I was when my brother married my idol?!? How devastated I was when said idol suddenly disappeared, seemingly replaced by a total stranger over night without anyone saying anything?!? It was too much of a shock… So much I couldn't accept the truth. If only I had… I'm sorry Yuki, I'm sorry."
When she said ‘Yuki’, I wasn't sure if she was speaking to my mother or myself. All I knew is that, as soon as Icy Spear was revealed as my aunt I suddenly felt drained. Regardless of all my efforts to stay awake, vaguely aware of a dim light engulfing my body, causing it to change, before falling, my aunt catching me before I could touch the ground, loosing consciousness in her arms.

I woke up this morning in a hospital room, a bit disoriented, wondering how I ended there. Looking around I saw my father and brother, both asleep in nearby armchairs, and an unknown woman who probably was a doctor, judging from what she wore.
"Oh, you're awake. Didn't expect you to wake up this early. I'm Dr. Hall, but please call me Judy. Do you remember how you ended here?"
I started shaking my head ‘no’, when memories of the events from the previous day came back. It must have been written all over my face since she said "I see you're starting to remember. Let me wake your father before we discuss your… situation."
Once dad and Leo, my younger brother, where fully awake, the doctor explained "First, let it be said that your life is not in danger. The first thing we did when you arrived was a full health check, since you're the first boy to become a magical-girl. We feared it would have a negative impact on your body, but it revealed you only suffered from exhaustion. You're a perfectly healthy young man, albeit one with a magical-core. Which mean you can turn into a magical-girl if needed, but I would advise against it. You almost dissolved it throwing magic everywhere like you did back there, which was very dangerous. Not only for you, since the loss of their magical-core is known to cause deep psychological trauma to a magical-girl, on top of their powers; but also for everyone else present. So for now, please rest and let your magical reserves rebuild themselves."
