Alicia wanted to stop at the shops on the way back to the room. Henry followed her into the clothing boutique. Emily had greeted him with a “Hello Rachel” but his only response was a smile as he had to continue to play mute. Henry found himself looking at the dresses and feeling the material as Alicia and Emily went to the other end of store. He found himself picturing how they might feel and look if he was wearing them.
Henry was feeling a silky dress on a store mannequin when he heard Emily ask “Do you like that dress Rachel?” He jumped in surprise he had thought her at the rear of the shop with Alicia. Henry remembered to be mute he just smiled at the woman.
“Would you like to try it on. I’m sure it would look great on you. It’s silk, from one of our local designers. Let me get it off the dummy. It’s a one off” Emily set to work. She apparently didn’t notice Henry shaking his head.
Just then Alicia returned. Emily asked “Did you find what you were after?”
“Yes. These should be perfect” Alicia had something small in her hand.
“I’ll be with you in a minute. Rachel wants to try this dress on” Emily having untied some straps was pulling the silk garment up over the mannequins head. She did not notice the alarmed look on Henry’s face, but Alicia did. Henry was alarmed as the dress was sleeveless. He could not wear anything without sleeves because he still had his hairy male arms
Alicia thought quickly “You don’t have time to try it on Rachel. You have to get back for that telephone call. Why don’t you go? You have a key. I won’t be long. I just need to pay for these and get something from next door”
Henry gave Alicia the thumbs up, a smile to Emily and left. Emily with the dress in her hand looked disappointed having missed out on a sale. “Perhaps she might come back later. I’ll keep the dress aside”
“Show it to me” asked Alicia
“It’s silk and from one of our locals designers, just starting off. This is one of her first designs” said Emily as she handed the dress to Alicia. Alicia held it in front of herself in front of a mirror.
“How much?”
“$150”
“I’ll buy it” Alicia liked the dress and she figured Henry must of liked it as well. The mannequin looked her size. “Rachel will look sensational in this” Alicia was thinking that if they did the arm swap tomorrow then Henry could wear this dress. After the honeymoon she could add it to her own wardrobe.
“Another birthday present? I wish I had a sister as generous as you”
“Yes and the colours of those flowers just happen to match the topaz of these earrings”
After paying for her purchases, Alicia headed next door. She wanted to check out the Hawaiian girl who had got Henry excited the other day. She wasn’t disappointed.
