Man you start playing a video game one moment, and the next everything could explode and alter reality all around... Now the surrounding suburbs changed into different small kingdoms and towns in a medieval-ish setting with magic based on runes. There was also everyone's "Skills" being set to level 1 out of 99 and how so many skills now helped with skilling other skills, and without a walkthrough there was a lot of confusion. Bright side there was no pvp allowed so... crime was down. Downside there was a lot of confusing mechanics like how most vendors and their staff were now effectively npcs at their stores... along with the police being turned into npc guards that you could attack, but it was fine because they'd just respawn every now and then not knowing they had even died. Then there was this new stock market like thing where you could buy and sell things for gold... but the shop owners often sold things in their stores for more or less than what was on the market, but never took advantage of the price discrepancies much. Also now most homes took place in plots of land accessed through portals in certain locations across the once suburbs, and now you needed a certain combat level to safely cross most areas without being attacked by a goblin or bear or something... There was just so much confusion that you could just hear people going "Run! Escape!" not knowing that they could probably just kill a goblin with their bare hands... or just train basic strength/attack by punching some rats. It was simply amazing watching how many people had 0 gaming literacy.
After people started adapting and watching people who knew what they were doing society seemed to devolve into several groups. Mainly the Combat types who focused on fighting as much as possible and essentially being mercenaries, Skillers who basically just boosted their skills which helped boosting other skills which generally helped make equipment and infrastructure for the Combat types, and then there was the old government players who weren't turned into npc's who were trying to enforce their local government despite having no actual governmental power as the npc's seemed to have that and no other "players" cared much about what some old white people tried to do in a world based on a game system they had no knowledge on.
Then there was some odd religions... Something about sleeping gods from some, Others were talking about praising the "tick", and then there was others who tried to figure out if there was some sort of "cash shop" where they could spend the cash they used to have on bonuses that would actually be useful in this life. Sadly those did not seem to exist.
Now as we look in this world that many would like to Run/Escape from at...
