The following morning his family decided to only send Mark with Paul as they needed Louis to help them with the field work.
The two boys prepared for the journey ahead by packing food and the necessary supplies.
Mark was the middle(age wise) son of the family and often helped with acquiring food from the forrest. (implying that he knew the surrounding area very well)
Finally, the time for their departure arrived, they said their goodbyes and left.
The journey started fairly good as they knew the surrounding area, but after a while they were pretty much guessing as to where they were supposed to go.
After a while they got back on the main road that lead to the city in which the carnival was set.
They walked for a good two days until they arrived at the carnival.
Once they arrived they were surprised at how large the carnival truly was, there must have been hundreds of carts that were scattered around the area.
