It's locked?!
There's a door between the hallway Sam armored herself up in and it's locked! She tried the knob and it wouldn't budge. It looked sort of old though, and while she didn't feel especially superpowered, she was in armor and heavier, Taking a few steps back she steadied herself and charged forward, ramming her shoulder against the door.
It made a satisfying *THUNK* and budged a bit. Hope blossomed as she backed up to try it again, only to hear screams that sounded like Tom and Luke's, she thought? It was hard to hear but it could be them upstairs. In the guesthouse.
Frantic, with eyes wide, she backed up to slam again against the door, yelling, "TOM! LUKE! I'M DOWNSTAIRS!" her voice echoing through the helmet she wore, giving it a tinny and bassy quality, though it was still clearly hers.
She was rewarded a few agonizing heartbeats later with a louder "S-SAM?! IS THAT YOU?!" from Tom on the other side of the door.
"What's that pounding?" coming from Luke, close enough for Sam, on the other side of the door to hear.
"ME DUMBASS! OPEN THE DOOR! GREG'S STILL UPSTAIRS!" Sam reaching down to grab her broadsword as the door opened to reveal her two colleagues.
"...Whoa..." Luke looks shocked, nervously eyeing Tom before looking back at Sam, "Sam?" eyes wide.
Lifting the helmet's visor (in fact which lifts the whole face) reveals a familiar sight that causes both men to relax. Tom wiping his forehead and smiling. "Shit, that was almost as scary as that mannequin."
"Greg isn't upstairs Sam." Luke shakes his head, frowning. "We looked around the main house for like thirty minutes, didn't find much, and went to look for you and Greg. We didn't find anything or anyone there until we were about to leave and found that red bunny right by the stairs."
Tom nods. "Yeah, we were getting out of there when this purple one showed up too. We slammed into it and ran down the stairs and hears your banging and now..." He looks behind. "They didn't follow us, didn't they?" panicky, jumpy.
Sam grimaces, her mind racing to rationalize why he's not there. He must've gotten out somehow. He's smart and brave and strong and he's fine. She nods to herself. "F-Fine. Fine. We get back to Joel and Karen. We tell then what happened. We'll find Greg there and we'll get out of here."
"....Why are you in armor?" Luke asks the obvious question as the trio begins making their way down the hallway.
Sam, with the greatsword strapped to her back, go-pro flashlight mounted to her helmet, and visor down, gives a bit of an echo-y chuckle. "I was going to kick some mannequin ass."
Luke gives a weak laugh as they reach the stairs, only to see Tom darting out of a room with something in his hands.
"Hey! Don't mind me! Just found something I wanted down here!" giving a smile and carrying a....
