"I'm ready to be a mermaid." Said Scarlett.
"Well I don't know how to change you. There must be a way." Said Damon.
Scarlett thought of a possible way until she suddenly came upon an idea. "How about you kiss me?"
"Kiss you?" Damon asked skeptically. "But we only just met."
"So? A merman's kiss can turn any human maiden into a mermaid to join him, as long as she is his one true love."
"Are you sure? I… I don't even love you."
"Do you?" Asked Scarlett.
Damon blushed as he looked at Scarlett. Indeed, she was quite the beautiful woman. He had met his many share of maidens come into his kingdom before but this was the first time a woman's beauty really stunned him.
Maybe Scarlett was right. The two clearly had a passion for the sea, enough passion for the idea to be together as merfolk, and Scarlett's parents have given their daughter permission to be a mermaid. Really, the two seemed to be meant for each other, even if they just met.
Shrugging his shoulders, the merman conceded to Scarlett's wishes. "Eh, worth a shot."
Damon swam towards Scarlett and gave her a kiss on her lips. Immediately, Scarlett felt a powerful warmness go her entire body.
Before long, Scarlett released herself from Damon's kiss and sank into the water.
She became completely submerged in the depths. Scarlett gasped for air, feeling water rush through her lungs. She couldn’t breathe. She felt like she was suffocating. Then suddenly, Scarlett felt herself take a breath. Then another. Soon, she was able to fully breathe on her own underwater like a fish.
The princess rubbed her neck and looked down the sides of her stomach. It was then that she saw, and later felt, the things making her able to breathe clearly underwater - Gills.
Scarlett's skin began to lose any of the small traces of hair on it and became completely smooth. The next change Scarlett felt was in her eyes. She covered her hands against them until the pain subsided. Suddenly, she was able to see clearly underwater, better than she had ever been able to before.
Her legs began to spasm uncontrollably. They twisted and turned, until they finally came together. Scales began to appear on them, first slowly then almost covering her lower body altogether. Red scales went up her legs until they reached her waist and faded around her belly button.
Her legs merged together and suddenly she felt a flopping sensation below her waist and looked down. Scarlett gasped as she saw her once two human legs had been replaced by a beautiful long red mermaid tail.
That wasn't all. A red seashell bra thankfully appeared over her breasts as they grew larger. Scarlett's waist had also narrowed by a few inches. Her blonde hair had grown long and luxurious as seashells as her tiara became a fitting underwater seashell crown. Her arms grew fins as well as her ears became long and webbed. It seemed to her that the kiss had given her a magical body that every women all over her kingdom would kill for.
Scarlett couldn't believe it, she was a picture perfect mermaid!
"This is amazing!" Scarlett said with a happy giggle as she swam around, doing barrel rolls and all kinds of tricks with her new mermaid body. "This is the best day ever!"
The merprincess eagerly flicked her tail until she broke the surface of the water. Damon was speechless as she saw Scarlett's entire body flying in the sky, showcasing her new tail to the merman, before the girl's body splashed back into the water.
By the time Damon could process the fact he turned a human girl into a mermaid with magic he didn't even know he had, he suddenly found himself wrapped in another kiss. This time, it was much longer and more passionate as Scarlett's embrace was deeply tight.
When she finally released her kiss and grip, she smiled. "Thank you, Damon. You changed my life for the better. Let's get married and rule the seas together."
Damon's eyes widened. "Come again? We're both merfolk and our kingdoms are above land, how would that even work?"
Scarlett shrugged. "It will work out."
"Work out? You mean we can somehow rule a land kingdom as merfolk?" Damon snapped his fingers for effect. "Just like that?
"Why not? My kingdom already has passages that make it easier for us to enter my parent's throne room. We could turn both of our kingdoms into mermaid-friendly places."
Damon gulped. "I hope you realize that your mermaid form could be… permanent."
Scarlett grinned. "That would be wonderful. Come on, let's show my tail to my parents."
The princess eagerly swam to the kingdom's sea passages, as Damon followed after her. Indeed, he was pretty nervous over how their kingdoms would react to their royal children being merfolk but Damon couldn't help but smile.
In his eyes, Scarlett was adorable before as a human but now she was absolutely perfect as a mermaid.
She really was his one true love.
