Jess had two options, run away from this place or stay and see what awaited for her. Jess wanted to run but something compelled her to stay. She always ran her whole life, no, she was going to commit to something even if it was a weird medical experiment.
“Hello Jess, this is Dr. Skinner, may I come in?”
The voice sounded female, very feminine, and kind of sexy.
“Yes you may come in!” Jess says to Dr.Skinner
When Dr. Skinner walks in the room, Jess is taken away, by this woman’s beauty. She is tall possibly 5’10”, she has long caramel brown hair put into the cutest messy bun she’s ever seen. Her green eyes match well with that perfect olive skin. Although her scrubs and white coat cover her up, Jess can tell she has a great figure. Mentioning her clothing she is wearing some expensive dress shoes, pink scrubs, a Cartier watch, and a white coat that has Vanessa Skinner M.D. on it. Jess doesn’t know much about becoming a doctor but, she knows it takes about 13 years or more of education, the thing is Dr. Skinner could easily pass off as woman in her twenties, the same age group as yes. Either this doctor knows about some magic anti aging cream or is some type of child prodigy, maybe both. Jess feels a little intimated by the doctor just by meeting her, her feelings of worthlessness and shame of not doing much over this gap year start to seep in.
“Hello Jess, my name is Dr. Skinner and I am happy to hear that you interested in volunteering in my experiment today.”
“Ahh hi Dr. Skinner nice to meet you and yes I would love to participate. I am sorry to ask but what type of doctor are you?”
“No problem at all Jess, I am a dermatologist but I also have interests in genetic engineering.”
“Wow that’s interesting, it also explains a lot your skin is absolutely amazing.”
“Oh why thank you Jess! Now I read your chart and you stated that you wanted to feel like you’re contributing something to the world. Is that correct? Do you feel like you’re not doing enough?”
“Yeah about that, I just feel like I should be out there doing something, I just feel like I am kind of worthless, college didn’t really go my way and I got rejected, plus I am having trouble escaping my small town.”
“Ahh I see Jess, do you plan to reapply again? Because let me tell you something, even though this is different from your experience, I had faced something similar, I got rejected from medical school once, before they let me in on the second try, I had trouble finding health care related jobs and shadowing opportunities during my gap years. But I didn’t give up because, I knew i found my purpose in life was to become a doctor and help people. So when I was finally given the chance, I ran with it, now I have everything a successful cosmetics practice, pharmaceutical company research and consulting gigs, and a lot of money, more than anyone could dream to have. Jess I think you need to find your purpose in life. Which brings me to this experiment, you may or may not take apart of today.”
Jess scratches her head after Dr.Skinner’s monologue and wonders what type of purpose she could give to her. Dr. Skinner walks to the fridge and grabs a vial of a strange orange liquid and some other equipment.
“Okay, Jess you said you wanted to do something worthwhile on your form. What I have hear is something that is a personal project, possibly my greatest work from a technical and sentimental sound point. Of course, this is only if you want this, you can tell me no right now and I’ll pay you five hundred dollars and make sure you get a nice letter of recommendation for the college application cycle or you could get this experiment and receive so much more.”
“What’s the experiment? What will happen to me?”
“It’s a secret Jess, but trust me you will like a lot!” Dr.Skinner says with absolute excitement.
