As the duo tried to get in, they realized that the doors were locked shut, and through the glass both of them could see the roof had caved in and had blocked the door; as the smell of natural gas filled the air, and gas and fire doesn’t mix.
“Great, now what?” Emily asked Aaron, who looked around and pointed at a nearby storefront, which seemed to be somewhat intact beside a broken window, checking the street and making sure it was clear they bolted across and opened the door and walked in, and silently closing behind them.
The store seemed to either be in the process of being filled or being emptied, cardboard boxes were on the ground with what looked like antiques, plates, cups, old stuff, nothing useful
They ducked a bit as a flap of wingbeats flapped overhead as a dragon passed, and they looked around and ducked into another back room, which turned out to be a small living space with a couch and chair, a few boxes which had a blanket, more evidence of someone moving in, and possibly the best place they can hide and lay low…..for now
