There was knocking at the door once more “We found it!” exclaimed Kerry from outside
Kate composed herself “Give me a minute” she called out while Tom fumbled for his shirt once more. His changes had stopped.
Kate waited until Tom had covered his breasts before she unlocked the door. Immediately two heads poked in, both Michael and Kerry had been keen to find out what all the commotion had been about.
“Here it is…….” Kerry stopped mid sentence. She looked at Tom. Michael hadn’t even attempted to say anything since he had seen his brother.
There was silence for an embarrassingly long period of time. Tom broke it by saying “As you can see the last change didn’t quite go as planned” His voice now had the melodic tones of Kerry.
“Tom?” Michael had to ask.
“In the flesh, or at least in Kerry’s flesh” Tom tried to make light of the situation.
“It’s all my fault” moaned Kate. “I thought he would revert back when he put his own shoes on but it just made him change faster” She began sobbing once more. Kerry enveloped her in her arms.
Michael had moved into the room and walked across to Tom. He was taking in the body below his brothers face. “Are you all changed from the neck down?”
“Except for my arms and head, I think I have become Kerry’s twin. It didn’t revert when I put my own shoes on. I sure hope I’m not stuck like this”
“We found the tag. It doesn’t say much” suggested Michael he turned to Kerry. She offered the tag to Tom.
Tom looked at it. He read everything written on it “All it says is 'Magic socks. Fits all feet' That's no help at all. It should have changed me back” he bemoaned.
“There must be some sort of catch” suggested Kerry. "Maybe you have to change totally into someone before you can change to anyone else”
“Or maybe there is some sort of time limit. I can remember reading a story about a magical amulet that needed 12 hours to recharge” Michael didn’t want to admit where he had found that story.
“Or maybe I’m stuck like this” bemoaned Tom. There was awkward silence once more.
Kate successfully composed herself. “There must be a way to change back. They wouldn't be allowed to sell these things if there isn't. I think we have done enough damage already by looking for a quick fix. How about we call it a night. In the morning we can do a bit of research before complicating things any further”
“We could go and find the shop and speak to the owners. If they sell these things they must know how to fix it” suggested Kerry
“I can search on the internet. Maybe I’ll come up with some ideas” suggested Tom.
“Sounds good” said Kate. “How about you return here in the morning, say 8?”
“We’ll be here. We’ll help you out of this mess Tom” said Michael. Michael was unsure of what else to say. It was hard for him to imagine being in Tom’s situation.
“Oh Tommy, I’m so sorry I had you try on my shoes” Kerry enveloped Tom in her arms. He felt her breasts pressing up against his own. They were the same height. Tom realised he was looking Kerry in the eye. She was short even for a woman, about 5’3 or 5’4. He was now the same height.
They all went to the front door where once more there were hugs goodbye. Michael gave Kate a hug and whispered “Don’t worry, we’ll fix this” Then he turned to his feminised brother. His immediate instinct had been to give this apparent female a hug as well. Instead he thrust out his hand and Tom returned the shake. Kerry had no such reticence, she gave both Kate and Tom another hug.
