I am about to dispel my ‘uniform’ finally getting the courage to look at my magical-form in the nude, when I hear a knock at my door followed by my younger brother's voice asking "Can I enter?"
Since I could always look at my nude body latter, I renounce undressing and answer "Of course Leo."
He enter and we sit on my bed, a reasonable distance from one another. He seem nervous, kneading each hand with the other. I patiently wait for him to gather his courage and ask what he need to. After a few minute, a first question is heard. "Can I ask a question?"
"Of course you can."
"How is it, being a magical-girl?"
"I'm a bit too new to really be able to answer. You should ask mom, she's been one far longer, even if her career as one got a long hiatus until recently."
"No, I mean, compared to being a boy."
"Oh… That's… A bit complex to explain, but I will try. First, let's speak of the mental aspect of the transformation." Seeing his horrified face I hastily explain "Don't worry, I'm still the same person, just as a girl. It's like…" Then, thinking for a bit, I add "Imagine a computer with two slightly different CPU. Similar enough that both can run the exact same operating system, but still having different strengths and weaknesses. Now, for some reason, that computer wasn't conceived to use both CPUs at once, you either use one or the other, but was designed so you can switch which CPU to use at any time without damaging anything."
"Now, imagine launching a game on such a computer" I pursued. "The game itself run fine on both CPUs, but because of their differences, the A.I. may react differently depending of the situation it's facing. As a result, an enemy might attack differently, or might go left instead of right. That kinda thing."
"What I'm trying to say, is that I'm still me, but as a girl. With all that imply. And then come the powers."
"Your ability to make ice?" ask Leo.
"That's the common misconception. For what mom said, we actually have the abilities to generate cold and manipulate water. But yes, combining those two powers make it look like we create ice out of nothing. But that's just what's specific to mom and me. Like every magical-girls, I'm also far stronger than any human should be able to. And then there is the uniform… Touch my skirt." He hesitate a moment, but seeing how I look at him expectantly, he end up relenting. "What does it feel like?" I ask.
"It's leather" my brother answer, seeming annoyed.
"Sure feel like it, but it's in fact made of my own magic. Doesn't mean I can change its appearance alas. Anyway, it act as some sort of armor, somehow protecting even the uncovered part of my body. That's why sometime the damage to a magical-girl's uniform doesn't correspond with the attacked part of their body. That said, the fact it's made of our magic does have drawback, like the fact we feel a slight pain each time our uniform get damaged, on top of loosing armor efficiency. (At lest that's what mom and her friend said.)"
"Anyway, what's important is that, boy or girl, I'm still the same person, and still your older sibling" I said, taking Leo in a side hug. "I love you bro, nothing is going to change that."
