Ms. Wells started off the presentation on the board. "Gender change", it read, with a strange, almost hypnotic graphic of a Mars symbol changing from blue to pink, the arrow sliding downwards and forming a cross to create a Venus symbol, before the Venus symbol moved to point upwards, its cross became an arrow and it turned from pink to blue.
"I like to start with gender changes," Ms. Wells explained, "because it's a good icebreaker. We're raised to believe that you're made male or female before you're even born, and you have to be that way. But thanks to transformations, that isn't true. I always find it fascinating to see people get to know what it feels like to be the opposite gender. Scary? Weird? Arousing, even? To be honest, sometimes I even like to try being Mr. Wells in my own time," she giggled.
"You can probably guess why I need two students for the transformation- one to turn from each sex to the other sex. Anyone want to be brave and volunteer for this?" Everyone is shyly silent. "If not, I might have to start picking people myself," she adds.
