"Hey, Danny?" Kevin said. "We're going
inside. Want to go with?"
Kevin's voice trailed off. "Where did he go?"
"I don't know," Phillip said. With a shiver,
he added, "Come on! I'm freezing. We'll catch
up with him later."
-------
"Wait!" I screamed up at the two giants, once
my friends, now a pair of unimaginable
behemoths.
It was no use. I was only two inches tall!
They could not hear me, especially over the
blaring music pouring from within the house.
Suddenly, two shoes slammed down on either
side of me. I looked up in terror as I stared
up from between Kevin's feet.
My head craned back as I stared the 200 feet
to his waist.
Suddenly, a mammoth arm, Phillip's arm,
wrapped around Kevin's waist. The shoes moved
again as Phillip escorted Kevin into the
house.
Having barely missed being trampled by one of
my best friends, I tried to grasp my peril.
It wasn't safe for a tiny guy at this party.
I scampered across the deck and rested in the
shadow of a monumental stone planter.
I didn't know how this had happened, but I
knew Doug, my sociopath of a former
boyfriend, was responsible.
My next decision involved what to do about
it.
