There Rhonda sat, surrounded by five girls in the middle of the night in someone else’s dorm, all attention on her. In pretty much every other situation this would've been a dream come true for the human, but apparently fate hated her with a passion. All of them expected her to pull out some magic tricks to transform them. Only problem, she couldn't.
For a moment she considered just telling them the truth, she had already thought of revealing it to May, but breaking one of her currently biggest secrets to three strangers, even if Amelia vouched for them, was a bit too risky in her eyes. This left only one option, bullshitting.
Rhonda pretended to pat her skirt. “Oh no, I think I dropped my wand while we escaped.” She dearly hoped nobody would call her bluff. Witches could use magic without wands, but the more complicated the spell, the more useful a focus would be to cast it, especially for young witches. Witch schools existed for a reason.
“No problem, you can use mine, Rhonda.”
“Oh, uh, thanks, May.” For the first, and hopefully only, time Rhonda cursed May’s kind helpfulness.
The latina felt almost sick in her stomach as everyone’s expecting stares fell onto her once more. The attention was drilling into her body. Sweat built up pretty much everywhere and ran down her plastic-y body. Was it just her or were the other girls getting closer? The sick feeling began rising up. Oh god, was she gonna puke in front of them from all the sudden stress? And could that be the necessary distraction? No, she couldn't do that. So with all the willpower Rhonda could muster she tried to force the building sensations in her throat back down. Unfortunately it started showing on her face.
“Hey, are ya alright?” Sarah leaned in to get a better look at Rhonda's face.
Rhonda couldn't hold it in anymore and just had to let out everything. But to the surprise of everyone, especially Rhonda herself, what came out was a plume of rainbow-colored flames. That hit Sarah right into her face.
“AAAAAAAAAHHHHH!” She recoiled from the dragoness, hands on her face.
Chaos erupted in the small room. The attention of most girls was on their affected dormmate, while May turned to Rhonda. “What did you do?”
“I don't know,” Rhonda answered truthfully. “It just came out. I didn't even know I could breathe fire until now.”
“Don’ worry ‘bout me,” Sarah suddenly spoke up. “It jus’ scared me, is all. Didn’ even hurt.” Sarah lowered her hands and her roommates gasped. “What is it?”
“Sarah, your head…”
Rhonda and May moved forward to get their own looks in and couldn't contain their own surprises. Sarah’s head had been almost completely transformed into that of a dragon. It wasn't even a humanoid one with some draconic features, like Rhonda and her friends (and Abigail), but a complete anthropomorphic dragon head. The only human part left on the purple-scaled head was her hair, which she thankfully kept. Her cowgirl hat also gained some holes to fit Sarah’s new horns through, though that was likely due to its own enchantment.
“Ya’... Ya’ did it, Rhonda, Ah look so cool,” was Sarah’s own reaction once she got to see herself in a mirror.
“You’re breathing transforming fire…” Amelia concluded with stars in her eyes and all her tails wagging. “That's so awesome. How do you just keep getting awesomer?”
Rhonda just stood stock stiff in the middle of the room and let the praises wash over herself. “I… I did it… I transformed someone… with magic…” Was it true? Has she secretly been a witch all her life. It felt so good being the transformer for once. She still had trouble processing it. It literally was a dream coming true. Later the small part of her that actually paid some attention in class would note that it also might just be a side effect of the more than half a dozen spells currently congealed in her body.
“Are you alright, Rhonda?” May asked her with apparent concern. “It came with a bit of a surprise to me, too. Do you feel any side effects?”
Rhonda came out of her stupor. “What? Oh, oh yeah, I’m fine. I’m fine. Totally not a life-changing moment for me, just another Wednesday. Oris it already Thursday, hehe?” Thankfully most occupants of the room were too busy feeling Sarah’s dragon head to notice Rhonda’s cringey performance.
Then they turned and advanced on her at once demanding to be transformed. Quickly getting used to her dragon breath Rhonda was more than happy to give the other three girls her baptism.
First was Amelia, the kitsune girl with literal twintails growing out the sides of her head. The magical fire gave her a total of three additional dragon tails in the same color as her fur. Two of them were nestled in between her three foxtails, while the third one grew out of the back of her head like a high ponytail.
Next was the boobsnake Megan. She gained three pairs of pink dragon legs that grew out of the back half of her snake body. It didn't take long for her to get the hang of walking in this new configuration. She was very thankful for not having to slither across the ground anymore.
Last but not least was the mermaid Keisha. Two big dragon wings in the same color as the scales she already had came out of her back, similarly granting her a new mode of transportation. To Rhonda's chagrin she mastered flying very fast. Keisha described it like swimming in the air, but Rhonda silently disagreed. The latina resolved to set aside some time to figure out her own wings as soon as possible.
“Thank you so much, Rhonda,” Amelia addressed her once the dormmates had admired their new draconic features enough for now. “St. Chariot’s Unofficial Transformee Club will be eternally grateful to you. It goes without saying that we consider you an honorary member of our group. As our idol we will strive to be like you and embrace the gifts of transformation. You can be a member too, if you want, May.” While she was happy for the girls, Rhonda couldn't help but hope that she didn't just help in the creation of another cult.
“I wish we could do more right now, but we should really try to get at least some sleep in,” Megan spoke up.
“Ah can't wait ta see everyone’s faces tomorrow,” Sarah said.
“Tomorrow will be such a great and exciting day,” Keisha spoke.
Finally everyone prepared for bed. It took a while to turn down their insistence to let them have their beds, but Rhonda and May made themselves comfortable in the middle of the dorm room’s floor. Admittedly she wouldn't mind the next day being calm and boring instead of great and exciting. Since she came to this school each day has been one-upping the previous one in zanyness. She could only wish that fate might grant her some time to take a breath.
