Transform or Dare?

Your ass is grass... literally!

added by sneme A year ago BM I O

Just as Jen exited her front door, her phone rang. She remembered the curse, and hurriedly ran over to the lawn. Her parents live in the country, on a huge, 50 acre lot isolated from her neighbors. Despite their wealth, their frugality led them to decide that living in the boonies would be cheaper than in a more consolidated suburb, allowing them to have a bigger house, and, crucially, even more land. Jen figured that, with no one around, and nothing to merge with, the curse wouldn't affect her.

"Hello JENNIFER SMITH, we have been trying to reach you about your car's exten-" CLICK

"AARRGH" Jen moaned. The robot just *had* to say her name, didn't it?! She threw her phone to the ground, but jumped when her arm hit the dirt. Well, she would've jumped if she could have, but now she had merged with the lawn! She tried to move, and found that she could lay down, but reach no farther than her arms could stretch. She pushed against the dirt, feeling her hands press into herself, but her torso didn't budge. She was rooted in place, one with the lawn.

This fact made itself clear when she felt something step on her. She winced slightly. It felt sharp, like hooves, and it dug into her a bit. She looked around, trying in vain to see the culprit, but couldn't. It was then that she realized the situation she was now in. She could feel every inch of her parents' 50 acre property. The trees, the grass, the dirt. All of it. She felt the wind blowing on her grass, almost like hair, the weight of the house pressing down on her, the pond in the back of the property that made her feel soggy. She began to cry as a flurry of sensations overwhelmed her brain, her nerves rewiring to comprehend and interpret 50 acres' worth of new tactile input, and she couldn't even imagine how far down her perception went. As she laid there, frozen, she felt her perception go deeper and deeper. She felt frozen in time, unable to move as her brain adapted. She felt fossils below, which felt almost like her old leg bones. She felt the layers upon layers of sediment. She even began to feel the magma churning below her parents' property, incomprehensibly hot and dense. It didn't hurt her, it was just there. Something she would have to get used to.

She realized that the thing she had felt sharply step on her was a deer, way off in the forested end of her parents' property, no, *her* lower body now. She felt several more deer with it. She began to feel even more sensations, as the tactile tsunami grew. She felt grubs in the dirt, chewing through her. She would've gagged if she weren't still so overwhelmed. She felt a squirrel dig into her, placing a few nuts, and then recovering them. She felt the trees as if they were arms, swaying in the breeze. She felt even more animals scurrying around on her, in her. She was still frozen as she took it all in, the sun beating down on her, causing her various grasses, trees, and other plants to photosynthesize. "Do I even need to eat anymore?" The thought echoed through her brain, distant as she took it all in.

After what felt like hours, her nerves finally finished adapting. She felt the tsunami subside, and found that, though she felt everything with as much detail as during the tsunami, her brain was able to adapt, and prioritize. The hooves still made her wince, though.

She felt something bound towards her, and turned. It was her dog, Lucy! She ran over, and began licking Jen's face. She laughed, the realization that, even though she was now attached so deeply to a parcel of land that she may never be separated from it, that life was still ok. She had her dog, and her family, and her friends.
