Then came the next morning. I opened my eyes to discover what looked like my nose sticking out a few more inches forward, and colored a shiny black. I realized then and there, in my bed, staring at my twitching, rodent-y nose, that my transformation was almost complete. I looked in the bathroom mirror, and saw exactly what I dreaded. I had a female rat face.
My muzzle was as grey as the rest of the fur I was growing, with jagged whiskers and a scraggly texture. My ears looked just like a big rat’s, and when I snapped my fingers near them they even twitched like rat ears. My teeth looked like something between a rat’s and a human’s, complete with bucked incisors and sharp molars. My tongue was still fairly humanoid, probably so I could still talk and stuff. My eyes though… my eyes were big, round, and green. They looked more at home on a cartoon character than a normal rat. This face didn’t look anywhere near my human girl face, let alone my old boy face. There was no denying though. Rat. Full on… rat. I’d try calling in sick, but I doubted anyone would believe me. Even Carlos wouldn’t see anything different about my face, because he wasn’t in the same room when it changed.
I had no choice but to face my destiny. I would have to go to school as a rat. So I grabbed my yellow hoodie, grabbed my pocket belt, put on my sneakers, and got ready to just go to school and get this day over with.
