All Ned could talk about was his wish to visit the townsite of Foxfire. He had a brochure tucked in his pocket and would quote over and over the many noted advantages it had to offer.
You follow along side this friend of friends, Ned being the one person you ever knew who could spark an instant conversation with just about anyone. He was the ipidemy of a friend, Ned was your friend, but you wonder sometimes if you or anyone is really his friend?
The main street led off into a dozen broad pathways going to many interesting places. The town of Foxfire is just one of them. You have listened to Ned's continued conversation telling of all the pleasures and fun he and you will find when there. He seemed distracked and maybe it was lucky for the two of you as others having exited the ferry boat seemed to meld into the scene of this strange and almost unholy sort of amusement park.
Your less than maybe a half mile from where the street turned into those many diffeent named pathways, you note the odd change of a cool and refreshing mountain breeze. The air at the ferry and around the many exhbits lined along the broadway seemed dense with the sounds and smells of sweating people, hot humid air , no breeze, and the tainted scent of scared animals.
Ned being himself and having a certain destiny was not swayed by those hucksters standing by the many doorways, all suggesting and urging anyone to enter and find enjoyments.
You followed Ned on his quest but had from time to time a chance to peer past those hucksters to see enough. The rank scent of animal manure and urine puddled about in the streets only suggested the ultimate goal of the Park's owners. Having stood by one dim lighted bar room doorway long enough you and Ned saw Barney, he being a youth you talked with on the ferry.
Barney had big ideas and talked of finding his sexual delights within one of the many speakeasy's spotted along the boardwalk. It was him standing near the opened door of the bar that caught you eye and Ned's momentary attention.
Screaming and as if pleading for help the young fellow as being physically attached by two half naked women. They scuffling to drag him deeper into the dimly lighted bar would seem by his anguished face to not quite be his preferred desire. Indeed he stood there near the opening to the street his shirt removed showing a dark tanned chest and being more burley of hair than you remembered. His zipper was down as from its opened port hung Barney's penis.
He screamed to Ned for help, the words sound slurred as if he was already half drunk. His hands reaching to grip the door's sash seemed also more than tanned and almost like they were black as tar.
You were ready to enter and help Barney but Ned held you back and pointed to the sign above the door.
"Gorilla Gluch" was the name of this speakeasy and bar. The small print suggested of conversation with naked women and the possible offering of special delights.
Then he pointed to a warning sign, it being as a disclaimer of sorts.
"Warning, Warning, Warning," it said at the top of the small sign.
The Pleasure Island Amusement Park takes no responsibility for those inside this establishment or the acts of personal aggression they might press upon those who would disturb the tranquility of this business. Those are warned that if decided the owners here can insist such people be held and or inturned here at P.I.A.P. to work out their debt.
Ned took you by the collar and almost dragged you away, his reminding you of the many stories told of those who came here and were never seen again. It was that sort of fantasy which brought you here and Ned maybe too. He, like you have your own fun delights and as much would hope to find your ultimate fantasy here at the Park.
