The two heard moans and groans inside the bathroom. The sound of Mike falling and crying becoming more and more high pitch as it went on. After a few seconds, Paul walked into the bathroom to see Mike, a four-year-old toddler on the floor. His hand was covering his head, which had had a bruise possibly from falling or tripping.
“Aw, poor baby! Do you have a boo-boo? Here, lemme see!” Paul moved in and crouched to look at the boy’s bruise. It didn’t look fatal, just a little bump. For now, he’s gonna pretend to heal it for him.
“Ok, let me do some magic to make it feel better!” He tickled the sides of the boy’s torso and made bubbling sounds. Each time he took a breath, it sounded like he bubbled harder each time. With each round of tickling, the cries turned into laughter. “And muah!” Paul kissed the forehead of the boy. “There! You’ll be good in no time!”
Mike wanted to touch it, but Paul forced his hand down. “If you touch it, my magic will wear off! Let’s get you some undies!” He picked up Mike and carried him into the basement, where he opened his locked safe. Kieth assumed that it was alcohol or money, even a gun came into his mind of ideas. The only thing he didn’t think would be in the safe was underwear for a child.
He pulled out blue underwear with a green number four scattered around it in different sizes. Paul held it up for the boy, “are you this old? Or do you need diapies?”
The boy shook his head, “Dis many!” He held up four fingers. Paul gasped, “look at you! Knowing your numbers like a big boy! You deserve a reward!”
He gave the underwear to Mike and took his hand and led him back upstairs. From there, Paul got his keys ready and grabbed his wallet. “Keith honey can you grab Mikey a blanket? It’s the pastel one in my closet!”
Keith went into their bedroom and searched for the blanket. He found it and brought it to the living room. Paul unfolded the blanket and hidden inside was a pair of sweatpants, just the right size for Mike too.
Helping the boy get his pants on, Paul covered him up with the blanket and carried him outside. “Keith can you drive us to the store, I need to get this big boy some clothes!”
“Uh, sure.” He was still confused, weirded out, and feeling many other emotions as one of his boyfriend’s friends got turned into a toddling tyke.
Paul sat in the back seat cradling Mike. Keith drove the two to the store, but Paul insisted they went to a more child friendly place. He had successfully rocked Mike to sleep, which was a good thing as he would not like to hear the next words coming out his mouth.
“We need to get diapers and other baby stuff for Mikey. He’s going to have accidents and needs comfort too.”
Keith drove until they saw a baby store. As they entered, Paul handed Mike over to Keith, who was unsure what to do. When they entered the store, they were greeted by the cashier.
“I welcome to-“ Paul rushed passed him, as if he didn’t exist.
“Hi yes, can you help me out here?” Keith asked.
“What seems to be the problem?”
“Well I’m more of the man of the house, getting bills paid, working 9 to 5. You know? My boyfriend who rushed passed you is having me do the shopping for our son here. If you could kindly point me to whatever section a potty training four year old would shop, I’ll appreciate it.”
“Aw, did he run out of pull-ups?”
“No, we just forgot to restock before coming back.”
The man ignored the last part of the sentence and pointed to an aisle. “Over there are pull-ups and diapers designed to fit your little guy. If you need clothes, there on aisle three!”
“Thank you!”
Keith walked over to the aisle the man suggested, finding his boyfriend debating on which cartoon diapers Mike would like. “Where have you been?”
“I’m look I panicked and went on a lie saying that we forgot to stock up on diapers and maybe if you told me the who, what, when, where, why of this entire situation we are in, then maybe I wouldn’t panic!”
Paul walked over and kissed Keith, “I love it when you freak out like that! Come on, let’s get some diapers and clothes before he wakes up!”
The two men gather supplies to give clothes to their new temporary son. Cute superhero underwear, shirts with cute dogs or phrases on them, onesies and pajamas designed for easy diaper checks. By the time they paid for everything, Mike had finally woken up.
“Huh? What happen?”
“Good morning sleepy head! How was your nap?” Paul asked.
“Good!” The boy kept rubbing his eyes, trying to figure out what happened.
“Well buddy, since you’re finally awake, we need your help!” Paul said. He loaded up all their things into the car and was handed Mike. “We need you to keep a secret. Can you do that?”
“Mhm!” Mike said. His eyes were wide open with excitement.
Paul began to whisper in the boy’s ear. “We are actually super spy’s, and you’re gonna help us!” Mike gasped with excitement. He was about to say something, but Paul shushed him. “First thing we need to do is get you a spy outfit ok?”
“Ok!”
“Now don’t tell anyone but me! If you do, you’re fired!”
“Yes sir!”
Paul told Keith to head to the tuxedo rentals. Paul let Mike choose which shirt he wanted to wear, but he did have to help him with his socks and shoes. After helping, Mike actually looked like some average toddler, about to go to tuxedo rentals.
