The machine was finally complete. James admired his handiwork. So many sleepless nights had been put into this thing. Blood, sweat, and tears, but it was finally done. The Chamber was complete.
James could’ve gave it a better name if he wanted to, but he was never one for showing off with flashy names. Besides, despite the machine being on the cutting edge of physics, able to locally warp time and globally warp reality, James wanted to keep it under wraps. He was pretty sure he had gotten lucky to some extent, brute forcing solutions to some of his problems rather than coming up with eloquent solutions, but hey, this was applied physics. James could’ve written papers and collaborated if he wanted to, and probably would’ve been celebrated for his physical genius, but what he really wanted to do was to use his own device to change reality. It was more fun that way.
The Chamber was simple. Someone would enter it, and then the chamber-lock would activate upon a control panel from the outside. The flow of time was different inside and outside of the chamber, so that the person inside the chamber would experience however much time the device was set to while mere minutes could pass outside The Chamber. It could also be used to reverse time inside. Of course, that wasn’t all. The Chamber was equipped to physically alter whoever was inside, including their brain chemistry, every part down to their identity. Thanks to James’ hard work, The Chamber was able to alter reality at a fast rate, the new reality corresponding to whoever was inside having always been that way propagating around the globe in mere hours. The setting could be disabled if the outside panel user decided, but James wasn’t interested in that.
The issue, of course, was picking a perfect candidate for his first real usage of The Chamber, and then getting them to come here. He had a few ideas, but could only have one person come in at a time. Who to pick, who to pick, he mused over.
