“Our first mission,” Captain Yamada decided, “will take place on the jungle planet. I’m not willing to jeopardize my crew attempting to navigate underwater or boiling lava. Besides that, there appear to be radio transmissions emanating from the jungle one. Lieutenant Dawes, is it a Fleet frequency?”
“Negative, Captain,” Dawes, a young man lieutenant answered, “Our system isn’t familiar with this frequency. Not to mention that this language is unlike anything in the database. It… doesn’t sound dissimilar to French… but none of the words seem to match up.”
“Webber,” the captain turned to another officer, “Is the Babelfish Device able to translate this language at all?”
“Marvelously, Captain,” Webber, a young female linguistics expert declared, “It appears to be some manner of news bulletin. It appears to be detailing something about anti-allergen pharmaceutical shortages… supplies expected to replenish within the next month… Outstandingly fascinating!”
“I’ve made my decision,” Captain Yamada declared, “Prepare to touch down on the purple jungle planet. We will codename it Papa-Juliet-01 for the time being. Everyone strap in! It’s likely going to be a bumpy reentry!”
