Finishing his speech, Sam pulled off his trucker cap and bandana to reveal his furry half-moon bear ears, fuzzy cheek ruffs, and blocky ursine muzzle. The room went entirely silent for almost a minute with Kaylin the first to speak. "Whoah, you're a freakin' bear, Sam. That's wild." Jesse, not usually one to be impressed by anything, let loose a long, "Duuuuuuuuuuuuude." It was now Sam's turn to get mildly embarrassed. It was one thing for his family to see how he'd changed, but it was quite another for his friends to see how...fuzzy he'd become.
"Is there more, young Padawan?" asked Kaylin. "Yeah, there's more," admitted Sam. He slowly removed the gardening gloves so that they could see his claw-like fingernails and the dark brown fur covering the tops of his hands. Sam then took off the light jacket he was wearing. He could almost feel his friends' eyes run up his arms, taking in how the shaggy brown bear fur on the tops of his hand continued up his forearms and faded out near his elbows. Sam paused, wondering if he should remove his tee-shirt. The soft fur coating his belly and the poof between his pectorals was starting to itch. However, he was still a bit embarrassed by how he had changed and wasn't quite ready to show off all of his body fur just yet.
"Nice pelt there, Yogi. Now, how about those boots? I'm assuming they weren't just a fashion choice?" Kaylin continued in a friendly mocking tone. "No, you're right. They're not," Sam replied as he plopped down in a nearby armchair. It was something of a struggle to pry them off but after a few minutes, Sam finally freed his partially changed footpaws and he was gratefully curled his fuzzy toes to get some feeling back into them, the boy's toeclaws scratching lightly against the tile floor of the finished basement.
