Taji had always been different. Both her mother and father were skunk in form and scent. Most people and anthros would steer clear of them due to the absolute stench that just naturally wafted from their bodies. Taji only smelled like a skunk around her parents, whereas being outside, she had a sweeter scent. Sometimes, she smelled like honey, sometimes vanilla, sometimes fresh fruit, sometimes a bakery. Taji was odd, but because of that she learned to adapt to her situation. A trip to the doctor told her parents she was a skunk with the rare “scent sponge” gene. She would take in the scent of whatever she was around if it was fragrant enough. She lacked her own natural scent, so she was literally a skunk only in form. But she’s learned to adapt and grow into a mature woman. She stepped out of the bus smelling like the mass of skunks that were present, but a quick trip to a bath and candle shop would change that.
Though she started out repelling people as she walked through the mall, she stopped to get a coffee from a kiosk, the fragrance of fresh roasted coffee quickly changed her scent. As she sipped, she thought about what she wanted to smell like as she walked around the mall. Getting inside the shop, she was assaulted with a bunch of different kinds of scents, all pleasant, but all very strong. Her coffee scent stayed on her despite the strong scents around her, many in the store flocking to her to cleanse their palettes. She did feel a little awkward, but it wasn’t the first time something like this had happened to her. What would she want to try out?
