You are Raymond Bailey Smith, or "Ray" for short. You are -- or were -- nineteen years old, half a year out of high school. You stand 5'10", have tawny brown hair and blue eyes, and are fairly non-descript -- your once reasonably fit body having lost some mass during your hibernation.
You had volunteered for this "final experiment" on cryogenics for two main reasons. One, you were super excited to see what the future might hold. Two, you were not excited at accumulating a mountain of college debt.
Your desire to participate in this experiment had finished alienating your parents, so good riddance to them. Your best friend had actually also volunteered for the experiment -- you had both been looking forward to having someone you knew when you woke up. But they had been sent to a different city for their stasis, so... your odds of ever seeing them again seemed pretty low.
Damn it. This isn't what I wanted! Sure, it had been discussed as a possibility -- nuclear war, killer virus, asteroid hit -- but you'd blown it off. If you'd thought the world was going to end, you wouldn't have agreed to this. And now...
Monster girls? Succubus Queen?
Maybe this is all a really weird dream. Maybe you are still in your cryo pod. Or, hell, maybe the whole experiment was a dream. However, after trying, you can't wake yourself up. So you hike the backpack up your shoulders and head to the heavy bunker doors.
There's no way to open them visible on the doors themselves, but there is a large control panel next to them. You place your hand in an outline over a scanner, but nothing happens. It must be busted -- or else you were never put in the system. But as you withdraw your hand in disappointment, something flutters to the floor, revealing a number pad.
You bend down and retrieve an old, yellowed note card. The ink is a bit faded, but still legible.
"The city is in chaos now, so I think I shall leave and establish my court elsewhere. Don't get changed by some lesser monster girl before you get to me! Pristine humans are so much more fun to play with.
The Succubus Queen"
You blink at the message a couple of times, then turn it over.
"Hello again, darling.
The passcode is
1 2 3 4
Simple for your convenience.
PTO"
You're pretty sure you are not going to try to get to this "Succubus Queen." But... you guess you do owe her for making sure you survived and had supplies at hand. Mostly, it's just unsettling -- imagining a caring scientist slowly losing his sanity to an oversexed, demonic persona. Or... is it kind of hot...?
You push those thoughts away. Either way you need to focus on getting out of here. Steeling yourself, you punch in the password.
The giant doors hiss as the seal is broken, and begin to rumble apart. You wince. If there are monster girls around, they've been alerted. You pull out your pocket knife. It's not much of a weapon, especially against what might be a supernatural threat, but it's all you've got.
One of the doors catches and stops before opening fully, but there's still plenty of room for you to walk through. Shining your flashlight ahead, you see a set of steel stairs leading up. But already things look pretty bad. There are old stains on the floor, the walls, even the ceiling. There are claw marks -- on the steel steps. Some of the hand-rail has been torn out of the wall.
Was this done by monster girls? Or just flat-out monsters? It certainly makes Dr. Fielding's note seem more legit. But if what you read is true... You shake your head, once again reminding yourself to focus, and cautiously make your way up the stairs.
You encounter nothing, and eventually exit into another hallway. It's not unlike the one you were in below, except for looking much worse for wear.
You peek into a couple of the rooms, finding a jumbled mess in each. No bodies, thankfully. But as you proceed you get the uncanny sense that something is watching you. You debate trying to check it out, and just running in the direction you remember leads to the exit.
