Gloria and Katie now raced towards the hospital. Gloria couldn't believe what Caleb had told her. As Katie now parked her car, Gloria raced inside.
As Gloria entered the waiting room, she immediately noticed Caleb. The teenage hunter sporting a scrub top, which covered bandages along his ribs. "Caleb," she exclaimed, throwing her arms around him.
Caleb winced, his face pale as he stared at Gloria. The past hour had been a nightmare for the young hunter. "What happened," Gloria asked. "Wheres your dad."
"Surgery," he whispered. "Moms upstairs with Connor." Caleb now trailed off, sinking into a chair a thousand yard stare etched on his face. Katie now joined her sister, seeing the young couple. "Gloria how is he," she asked.
"I don't know," she whimpered. "He's...he's in shock." Katie simply nodded, placing a comforting hand on her sisters shoulder. "I'll see what I can find out you two stay here." Gloria simply nodded, hugging her boyfriend tightly as Katie made her way towards the reception desk.
"Is Dr. Harris working," Katie asked. The receptionist nodded, saying she was busy. "Tell her Katie Carlson is here," she said firmly. "Tell her I need to speak with her. Its important." The receptionist simply nodded paging Dr. Harris.
A few moments later Dr. Julia Harris made her way to receptionist desk, a puzzled look on her face. "Good to see you Katie," she said. "You don't usually come in unless its dire, so what happened?"
"Jacob Moreland and his son," Katie stated. "What happened?"
Julia nodded, motioning towards her office. As the two now entered, Julia locked the door before turning to Katie. "Knew their was something fishy about that," she said quietly. "Bear attack my ass!"
"What happened?"
"Well," Julia sighed. "The son, Caleb, got off with a few busted ribs and a hairline fracture of his forearm."
"What about Jacob?"
"Complete amputation of his right arm," Julia shuddered. "On top of crush injuries to his shoulder and blunt force trauma to his body. The guy even has a stab wound to his shoulder. He's lucky, it almost pierced his heart."
"Who said it was a bear?"
"His son," Julia stated. "The kid was in shock when he showed up."
"Is Jacob going to make it?"
Julia sighed, her shoulders slumping as she looked towards the ceiling. "He lost alot of blood," she said. "It was touch and go during surgery. They repaired the damage but the guy is going to have to get used to not having an arm, plus an extensive hospital stay."
"Need to ask a favor," Katie stated. "Let your sister stand guard outside Jacob Morelands hospital room while he's here."
"That bad huh," Julia said. "Katie what the hell is going on!? How much danger are we in and what are we dealing with?"
"Vampires," Katie said softly. Glancing at Julia she realized that in a normal world, saying something like that would land her in the paych ward. Thankfully, things were not normal for Katie and the others.
"Perfect," Julia groaned. "Just when I thought things were finally beginning to calm down."
"Sorry," Katie replied sheepishly.
Julia took a deep breath, composing herself before smiling. "Dont worry about it," Julia said. "Lucky for you I'm the Chief of Emergency Medicine. Anybody gets banged up, see me and only me. I can help out until this is over. I'll keep anybody that ends up here safe, with a little help from you guys of course."
"Appreciate that Julia," Katie smiled. "I'll keep you in the loop."
Returning to Caleb and Gloria, Katie could see the two teens were now joined by their friends. Apparently Gloria had gotten the word out that something bad had happened. "You two doing okay?"
"I'm gonna kill them," Caleb snarled. "Miro, the Five, ALL OF THEM! THEYRE DEAD!!!"
"Caleb," Gloria whispered, shocked to see her boyfriends face contorted in rage. Katie now approached, her hand glowing white as she laid it upon Calebs shoulder. The young hunter seeming to relax as his rage dissipated. Gloria now gave her big sister a curious look.
"New spell," Katie stated. "Been working on it recently." Katie now looked over the teens, all looking tense and ready to fight.
"Caleb," she said softly. "We'll help you. For tonight though we need to get some rest. Tomorrow, we go to war with the Vampire Nation."
