Jane pondered what to do next. She could sneak into Tim's room and try to have some fun there, but it was risky. She could make excuses for having her door locked, but Tim was too young to be locking his door from the inside. Plus, if her parents caught her, she would have to explain her presence in Tim's room, which she hardly ever went into.
Wait, the door! Jane had to stop herself from jumping up and down in excitement. She just remembered something, more from Tim's memories, since it's likely she was not paying much attention when the topic came up originally. This was Tim's week to take care of the class pet, a hamster. It was right now in his room, which, for this week, would have to have the door shut in order to ensure Missy did not get into any mischief with the hamster.
Jane really wanted to have fur again, and the hamster was there, just waiting for her. All she had to do was sneak over and take it. Jane tried to calm her breathing, then carefully unlocked her door, opening it a crack and listening for any movement elsewhere in the house. Everything was dark, and it appeared her parents had long gone to sleep. Cautiously, Jane tiptoed down the hall, a little unsure in her smaller form, but too driven by the idea of an additional merging, especially with an animal.
Finally making it to the door of Tim's room, Jane flinched at the slight click of the doorknob turning, then slowly swung the door open. It was dark, but Jane could barely hear some little noises coming from the desk where Tim had placed the hamster's cage.
