Entity #201504
Codename: Transform or Dare
Description: A curse that takes the form of a perversion of the children’s game called Truth or Dare.
Known Abilities: The game begins when the one who’s turn it is asks anyone, anyone at all, “Transform or Dare?”. The victim has one minute to answer with one or the other, or otherwise take both.
When answered with “Dare”, the initiator issues a command, any command they can think of. The victim is forced to carry out this command against their will. If the command includes a mental change, then the victim’s mind will warp to comply.
When answered with “Transform”, the initiator describes what the victim will turn into. Without fail, the victim’s body will transform to match the initiators’ vision. The only limit seems to be the user’s imagination. This can also affect the victim’s personality.
As expected, if one must take “Both” then the initiator has open season to do whatever they want to their victim.
There’s only a few hard limits to the game. One, only the most recent victim may initiate the game. Two, you cannot prevent anyone from initiating the game whatsoever. Three, the initiate must say “take backsies” twice without interruption to return the victim to normal.
Update: Limit One proven false as the initiator may target more than one victim at a time and/or dare the victim(s) to have permanent permission to initiate the game.
Containment: Entity #201504 appears to be confined to a midsized town on the West-Coast of the United States called “Glendale.” Efforts to lift the curse have proven impossible, as it seems to be interwoven into the town’s history. Efforts to prevent outsiders from entering the town proving similarly fruitless.
Update: The curse follows victims should they leave town. Efforts to contain victims in planning. The curse seems to perpetuate within the town even as people leave and arrive.
Other-1: Glendale also seems to be a Haze hotspot. Perhaps it’s related to the curse in some way?
Other-2: Almost 1/8 of the town population is descended from witches and, coincidentally, show this off by dressing in goth fashion. The town seems to capitalize on its witch history as part of its tourism. Could the curse and the witch descendants be linked?
