“I think I want to start with something simple,” Carol said, “practical even.”
“That’s probably wise,” Rosa nodded, “Can’t start over-complicated. Even I didn’t start out with detached hands, after all. If you want practical, you’ll want to start with ‘Everyday Use’ mods.”
“Well what’re we waiting for, guys?” Kat grinned, “C’mon, it’s ProMoCon! Let’s go get Carol something awesome!”
The quartet walked through the convention hall, marveling at the technological wonders on the way to the Everyday Use section. Carol’s eyes darted from booth to booth as she went, drinking in the sights and sounds of thousands of enticing mods. One booth offered arms that could extend over 100ft like a grappling hook, another showed off powerful legs that resembled construction equipment. There were all kinds of attachments available too, everything from solid-light projectors to shoulder mounted microscopes. Some of the more popular sections were, unsurprisingly, the gaming equipment and sex toy sections.
“I should really get some tournament legal gaming mods for my fingers,” Rosa pondered, “Reduced friction, increased speed, probably some RGBs…”
“Ooh, check out those tattoo projectors,” June marveled, “Maybe I should pick out some new patterns after we kit Carol out.”
“No way!” Kat gasped, “They came out with increased flexibility feline limbs! And they’re fluffy and come in bespoke colors! I know what I’m grabbing today!”
They eventually came to the Everyday Use section, where it seemed like a lot of first-timers were gathered. Many booths offered starting kits, various in-build smartphones and PCs, cookware, holographic projectors, and maintenance tools.”
“I’d recommend building your phone into your arms first,” Rosa explained to Carol, “along with getting a holo-projector.”
“After this, do you want to get something more exotic?” Kat asked, “I bet you’d look cute with some puppy dog mods!”
“One thing at a time, Kat,” June stroked her friend’s head, “Let’s let Carol decide.”
“I think I will start with the phone and projector mods,” Carol nodded, “After that, maybe…”
