On Heiya Island, the WSA known as Samurai Prep wasn't the only school there. Though it was the only school that taught more practical and useful knowledge. Quite a few small schools focusing on significant Chinese or Japanese traditions have also been established. One that was establish earlier on was the geisha school. It's a bit erronous to assume that the geisha school was essentially Heiya Island's version of the Modeling Academy. Geishas are performing artists, which included dancing, playing instruments, and singing. Another misconception is that geishas are prostitutes, which modern ones certainly are not. Quite a few Heiya residents have signed up for this school, and that includes new residents too.
==========
Ami was doing some paperwork for the school when someone came into her office. She could see it was a fetching-looking tanuki, even if her clothes were a little on the baggy side and her hair needed more grooming. She also had a male scent mixed about her. Well, Ami wasn't running this school as loosely as the Meat Market. "Can I help you?" asked Ami.
"Yes, I'd like to sign up for this school," said the raccoon dog, "I wasn't quite how to apply. I couldn't find the website."
"Well, I hope you realize that this school is about keeping an old tradition alive," said Ami, "Not for picking easy dates."
"Huh? Oh, yeah, my clothes got a lot baggier since the conversion and I haven't updated my wardrobe yet," said the raccoon dog, "And I'm not so sure that a lot of people are interested in beings like me."
Ami paused before smelling the tanuki more properly. She had the scent of a male on her, but it didn’t smell like another male. Then she noticed there was a considerable bulge in the tanuki’s crotch. “Ah, you are one of the herm tanukis,” said Ami.
“Yeah, I’m just moving here,” said the tanuki.
“If any were moving here, I would have expected it to be Date,” said Ami.
“Apparently there’s not enough ‘big city action’ for her here,” said the tanuki, “My name’s Jin by the way.”
“But that’s not the name you were born with, is it?” asked Ami.
“What makes you say that?” asked Jin.
“For one thing, you have no Japanese accent. You could have been raised in the States, but you don’t have the feeling about you. Not to mention not many people in the States would go by the name ‘Jin’. Also your clothes say that you were a man before converting.” She looked at Jin’s baggy clothes, including a pair of pants that were quite saggy and held in place by a belt. “A heavier man,” added Ami.
“Yeah, you got me,” said Jin, “My name used to be Jim and I wasn’t exactly a Mr. Universe before I got changed.” Shi pulled out hir old driver’s license to show it. The picture was of a heavy man, one who had the long greasy hair, neck beard, and pasty complexion of someone who didn’t get out much. At least Jin was able to wash hir hair now.
“If you don’t mind me asking, you weren’t a basement dweller, were you?” asked Ami.
“No, I had my own place,” said Jin, “But I was a complete nerd. An otaku as you call them.”
“And you didn’t become an Animalian sooner?” asked Ami.
“Honestly, I had a hard time visualizing myself like one of the male Animalians,” said Jin, “Just the thought of my head on a muscular body seemed like a joke to me.” Ami nodded, a lot of people have issues with body image and self-loathing. “Becoming a herm sounded better. I was just waiting for something more oriental.”
“Well, there’s few things more oriental than a tanuki,” said Ami.
“I would have gone with a fox if they were available, but tanuki seemed to fit me better,” said Jin.
“So now you want to be a geisha?” asked Ami.
“Well, maybe not only that,” said Jin, “I did a bit of amateur reviewing back then and there’s a lot of Japanese stuff that people might be interested in watching if it’s streamed by a cute tanuki girl.”
“You’re not just a girl now,” said Ami, pointing at Jin’s crotch.
“More appeal across gender barriers?” suggested Jin.
“Uh-huh, before you think about becoming a social media sensation, I suggest a big makeover first,” said Ami.
“Right, new wardrobe,” said Jin.
“Oh, my dear, that’s only the tip of the iceberg,” said Ami.
