Leaving no time to think, he bust through the doors as quick as he could, making his way through the entrance and waiting area to try and take the stairs. He got lucky as the mutated anthros seemed to rely more on animal instinct that human logic, making them bad at cornering and tripping over each other. He got to the next floor and decided to hide in a break room, hoping that he could lose them so that he could get to his boss’ office to find out what was going on. After making sure the coast was clear, he went out the door with the stairs and kept on climbing, leaving his pursuers lost in the second floor. He checked his phone once he was in the clear and saw he lost service. He was just about to call for help, but he decided to wait until he could escape the town to try to make another call, so he put his phone away.
Getting into his boss’ office, he saw a mass of scattered papers that looked like a tornado came through. He looked through the garbage to find anything of use, but all he could find were maps with paths marked in some of them, but the destinations were unclear. He grabbed anything he could use to get through the crowds: a crowbar, a box of matches, some flammable fluids, a battery pack, and a flashlight. Going into full survival mode, he climbed the stairs once again to get to the roof of his building. He surveyed the area, seeing nothing but destruction and savagery all around him. He had to escape, that was his plan. He mentally mapped out an escape route and completely forgot about the two muscly mar furries chasing him, until they broke through the door and charged at him full speed. With no other options, he jumped off the roof, aiming at a nearby roof as a landing pad, and the case was on again. Neither of the anthros had good footing on the slick glass surfaces, so they were slipping and sliding as bad as Josh was. But they still pursued him, which meant he still had to run. He made a small misstep and ended up tripping down into an alleyway, right on top of two anthros having sex. The impact killed one and severely injured the other as he picked himself up and limped away from his pursuers, who were smart enough not to try and follow him. His clothes were covered in blood that was full of mutagens, so he had to take his shirt and pants off, leaving him in just underwear and a T-shirt. He had two options, stick to the road and keep going, or take a minute and bandage himself up, maybe find something else to wear.
