Susan awoke suddenly. She grabbed her phone, checking the time.
11:49
“Shit!” She shouted, throwing away her bedsheets as she rushed to the bathroom. She quickly washed her face, brushed her teeth, and back to the bedroom she went. She grabbed yesterday’s clothes from the ground, knowing she didn’t have enough time to pick a new outfit. She ran down the hall, briefly stopping by the kitchen to decide whether she had time for some kind of breakfast, but she knew deep down that she didn’t.
Grabbing her coat as she slipped on her shoes, Susan rushed out of the front door.
8 minutes later, she arrived just outside her College building, where she was meant to arrive for her Lecture. Right as she was going in, she noticed her professor leave the Lecture Hall, followed by a great crowd of students.
“Shit,” she said to herself, slipping out of the way, not wanting to be seen by her peers.
It was the third time she’d missed a lecture this week, and it was only Thursday. At the rate she was going, she was never going to pass any of her classes.
She defeatedly made her way to the local library.
She sat down in one of the corner tables, burying her head in her hands.
“I just wish everything would work out when I want it to!” She said to herself, quietly (but a little dramatically).
And just like that, her fate was sealed.
Susan felt a feeling. A strange feeling. It was a feeling of hope. Of change.
She couldn’t quite describe it. But she just had a feeling that everything was going to work out fine.
