Time coming, the trailer filled with other pigs. Finally, the truck started to move and after a two hour ride it pulled up outside a large building. The dozen or so pigs were unloaded and herded into a pen. All around her she saw other pens filled with pigs. Some were rather young, others full grown hogs or breeders like her. In the distance, she could make out other species such as cattle or sheep. It was a huge chatter of animal voices and an increasing smell as nervous animals defecated. Finally, things calmed down. People began to sit around a large ring in the middle. Jo-Lynne presumed that this was probably some kind of auction. Indeed, a quarter of an hour later a voice from a loudspeaker announced today's auction. It started with the cattle and the pigs could hear how the auction went. Round after round the animals for sale were announced and their features announced. Jo-Lynne was disgusted and aroused at the same time to hear words like "good yield", "high meat quality", "excellent genes". Finally, it was her turn. The loudspeaker voice announced: "Twelve pigs, mixed sex, individually on sale. Perfect for meat production. As you can see all promise perfectly shaped hams." The bidding went quick and before they really knew what was happening they were sold one by one. Jo-Lynne was lead to a very small trailer that only offered space for two or three pigs.
Then after a while her new owner arrived. She was shocked as she recognized that man. It was Mr. Jones the owner of the Butcher's shop next to her former home. Her destiny was sealed. It is the coincidence of life that her time as sow probably ends in his store. She has never been a vegetarian in her life. Not even after she had spend some time as pig, which usually supplies her favorite meat. Quite the contrary her appetite for pork had been increased. Jo-Lynne learned from Mr. Jones about Farm Vacation Inc.. Since that moment she was fascinated to become a pig herself. Whenever she was shopping in his store she talked with him about her fantasies and her plans. They have often joked, that one day she could be the bacon or ham he was offering. She didn't regret to become a pig, but she regret that she had not prepared for the time as a pig. In the end she made wonderful sausage and bacon. "It is surely of excellent quality!", was what Mr. Jones would say to customer when she asked about it.
