You must have fallen asleep. You were woken by your mother. “Dan, I thought to wake you while dinner is still hot”
“Dinner? What time is it?”
“8pm. We have decided to call it a night. I need a good night’s sleep and so I can get back to the lab feeling refreshed in the morning”
“8 pm? I lay down to read my book after lunch and I’ve been asleep for 7 hours!”
“I was wondering why you had left the clothes on the line. Are you feeling alright?”
“Yeah. I feel alright. I felt a bit tired after mowing the lawn but didn’t expect it to be dark when I woke”
Your mother had come across and put a hand on your forehead “You don’t feel as though you have a temperature. I would suggest it might be worthwhile for Stephanie to check you over but that can wait until after dinner”
Over dinner Stephanie updated you on the latest results. “Your red blood cells were only 25% XX. The skin samples from your left arm came out as 100% XX, as was the spot on your leg. But all the other samples I took were XY"
After eating you were once more stripped down to your undies and thoroughly examined by Stephanie. She found 2 more soft skin spots on your hip and on the small of your back, both less than a cm in diameter. The spot on your leg had doubled in size and the original patch of soft skin had spread to the upright part of your neck.
