Jeff was left alone again for several hours. First Master had been alone upstairs, now she'd left him all alone...he napped, entertained himself...wandered around. He wasn't really thinking that much, more living in the moment than doing any profound thinking.
Every so often, he'd see something, and have a flash of memories...but most of those memories made increasingly little sense to him, so he ignored them. Images of the boxes with moving pictures on them, food his instincts told him was not what he was supposed to eat, and other things so confusing he couldn't describe them.
Finally, he heard the door open. He bounded to the door excitedly, expecting to see Sally returning. Instead, it was someone else he recognized...a different member of the family.
