Mike couldn't believe what had just happened. In just a few minutes, he had found himself in a reality where he never left his old school. Mike was also older in this reality, and not to mention buffer than he thought was possible for him. The surfer flexed his arms to see the bicep bunch in his sleeve. An impressive feat considering how thick the letterman jacket was. These muscles couldn't have just come from just surfing. He must have hit the gym any time the weather was too cold or bad for surfing. No, that wasn't quite right. He must have hit the gym just as often as he surfed to get a body like this.
Honestly, Mike should have been freaking out more about suddenly finding himself in a new reality and losing a few years of his life and all. However, he found himself really liking the new reality and body he was in. What were a few years of his life if he was just going to be unhappy not being able to surf and be near his friends? Not to mention this bod would have taken years to build up. The surfer was looking like a real beach bum now.
Though why did this all happen? Could it have been when he wrote down how much he hated being in a new school in his notebook? Maybe, but something else was coming to mind. This jacket, it was the only part of his outfit that didn't change to fit the new reality. Plus, he wrote in his notebook a ton before, but this was the first time he put on this jacket. He had to test it out, and he knew who to test it out on.
Matt went to study hall to find his friend Theodor "Theo" Baker. Theo was a shy kid that moved here when he was in middle school. Shy enough that it took Mike a few tries before Theo convinced him to go surfing together. They became quick friends after that.
As Matt reached the library, he quickly spotted Theo in the back. Perfect. Theo wasn't as athletic as Matt was before his transformation; he had more of a skinny-fat build, and Matt wondered if that would affect how the jacket would change him. Well, assuming the jacket was responsible for his transformation, that is.
"Hey, Theo. Do you recognize me? It's me, Matt." Theo looked up from the book he was reading, and his eyes widened. It seems like Theo did recognize Matt, even with the reality change that happened.
"M-Matt!?" Theo yelped before getting shushed by the librarian. "Matt? What are you doing here? And why do you seem older? You look like one of the seniors, not to mention buff."
"I don't know, man, but I think this jacket I put on did it. But I need to make sure. Think you can put this on and see what it does for you?" Right after he said that Matt realized just how large of a request that was. Hey, reality just changed because I put on this jacket; do you want to put it on too? Also, I have no idea what it will do to you if it is magic. The look of apprehension on Theo's face told him everything, but surprisingly Theo said something unexpected.
"Okay, I'll do it, but only because you're my best friend," Theo responded. Clearly, it was that and not because he was curious as well. Anyway, regardless of the reason, now all that was left to do was put on the jacket and see if there were any changes.
