"It happened a few days ago at the city park. I was with my daughter, helping her with her school project on environmental pollution in the area, when she tells me that she sees something. I look at where she's pointing and, I'm dead serious here, I see an anthropomorphic white rabbit wearing clothes and holding a pocket watch."
"Oh, really. You mean you and your daughter actually saw The White Rabbit?" You said.
"I believe so, yes." Christine said back.
You were very familiar with the stories of Alice in Wonderland and considering some of the cases you've been on, you could say that you'd been in Alice's shoes many times (figuratively speaking, of course).
"And I'm assuming The Rabbit was saying he was late, right?"
"{sighs} You don't believe me, do you? You think I'm making this up."
"On the contrary, I do believe you. I've had plenty of unnatural encounters not to doubt you're claim. Now, tell me what happened next."
"{takes a breath} Okay, so then The White Rabbit runs off and we decided to follow him. Eventually he reached a very large hole under the old oak tree with no leaves on it and jumped inside. My daughter wanted to go in after him, but I told it was out of the question, remembering what happened to Alice."
"Good call. Holes like that are almost always gonna lead to trouble." We both laughed a little bit at that statement. Christine then finishes her story.
"So afterwards we tried to tell my husband about it but, of course, he didn't believe us. He then tells me about a co-worker, Ryan Garrit, who had a strange encounter of he's own and mentioned you."
"Yeah, I remember him. He had a bad case of gremlins a while back, but we took care of them. Hey Rusty, you remember that case?"
"Oh god, don't remind me. I still have a bite mark or two from those vicious little bastards." Rusty said.
"Yes, well it sounds like I came to the right place. Can you help me?" Christine asked. You had a strong feeling that you were going to regret doing this, but you were so desperate for a case that you couldn't refuse. Besides if that rabbit hole was a portal to another world, it would be a good idea to seal it before anyone or anything goes in or comes out of it.
"Don't worry Christine, we're on the case. Rusty and I need to get our stuff ready and get a permit, so we'll meet at the park tomorrow at noon. Does that sound good to you?"
"Yeah, that'll work. Here's my number and I'll see you all there." And with that, Christine left the building and you and Rusty got to work.
